face cream for very dry, sensitive skin
All of a sudden, my normal face cream, olay regenerist, has been causing red bumps, irritation and it BURNS when i put it on. i also am getting really bad dry patches over the red bumps.
i switched cleansers to aveeno (some extra gentle one) and then i switched face lotion to an aveeno brand but im still getting redness & dry patches (maybe its from the spf 15?) and it was ok the first few days but now its burning again!
Any recommendations?

I started using ALL things Mario Badescu. I have the most sensitive freakshow skin on earth and I have NEVER had skin like this. Soft supple and most importantly NO PIMPLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I use the:
Enzyme Cleanser
Special Cucumber Toner
The Oil Free SPF 30 Moisturizer for the daytime
The AHA Moisturizer for Night Cream
I went there for a facial and they do a complete skin consultation. I've ALWAYS had problem skin and I've been so impressed with their stuff!

I have very sensitive skin. I used mario badescu for years. Loved that stuff.
Then something set my skin off (not any of the mario badescu products) and my skin pretty much rejected every product out there.
I now use Triple Cream on the dry patches on my face and around my eyes twice a day. It's found in the baby section of CVS. It's for babies with eczema (and is from the makers of Triple Paste diaper rash cream).
I use CeraVe face cream with spf during the day.
As for face wash, I only use Cetaphil for all skin types (not the normal-to-oily one).
When the patches on my face get red and itchy, I use mario badescu control cream and it soothes the burning almost immediately.

Me too! (except for my cleanser, I swear by St. Ives Apricot Scrub). I also have sensitive skin, although oily. But Mario Badescu makes a wide variety of products for all skin types, many are terrific for sensitive skin, if you live near an Ulta go check it out.

I also have dry skin. I use the Mary Kay skin care line. It's wonderful for sensitive skin. You might want to try the Intense Moisturizing Cream.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. I received it as a free sample, and ended up using it on my two year old. She had a reaction to the neutrogena kids sun screen. I had tried everything and this cream is fantastic. I went out and got it at Sephora.

Which aveeno do you have? I was having the same problem with dry sensitive skin. All moisturizers (especially cetaphil) caused the same reaction you mentioned it was almost like having a sunburn. I started using aveeno calming moisturizer and it's really the only thing that worked for me. I'm not sure if that's the one you're using or not.

i used the positively radiant one. I was looking at the calming moisturizer but i compared the ingredients and they have the same active ones, so i didnt know if i should chance it.
thanks ladies, im not sure if my budget can fit in mario badescu right now but i heard good things about cerave, i just couldnt find it in duane reade last night.

I use coconut oil and love it! Apply with a cotton pad and wipe off the excess a minute later with a clean pad. Sooooooo cheap (I buy at TJ's) and great moisturizer!

i started using cerave on my body, thanks to lif, it is great, but the mario badescu, collegen night cream is fabulous. i love all their face creams.
