facebook heads up but maybe I am late in the game
I thought I had my privacy settings pretty tight. I even made up a fake name and tried searching myself and I couldn't find myself. BUT, I realized today that if you tag someone in one of your photos, it can be seen by ANY of THEIR friends and then ANY of their friends can comment on it.
I don't mind my friends seeing my photos, but I do mind friends friends seeing my photos!
Its going to be a long weekend untagging people from my photos!

I saw that too, as I was trying to secure my settings. Not happy about that at all!

Depending on the settings that you had, no. Before they did the change when you had "Friends Only" as your setting then it was friends only. However now they changed that setting, friends only now shows a note below it stating that friends of the person your tagging will see your photo. Now to keep your pix private you need to customize your settings for only the people in your lists and the person tagged can see the photo your posting.
Very sneaky on fb's part

make sure all your settings say 'friends only' not ' friends of friends'

Re: facebook heads up but maybe I am late in the game
IRL if you had a photo (those things we used to print out) in your house/apt etc and a few friends dropped by and you were talking about what a party you had last week and they saw the photos of some guy and you say “Oh that’s Jim from work” and one person says, I think I know Jim from Church and another person says oh really I go to church with you and I don’t remember Jim, oh he’s the one with Susan. And a third says, Susan? I know Susan’s cousin.. etc.
What’s the difference from facebook?
I don’t post photos I don’t want people to see, period.
People tag me in their photos and thankfully I am too old to have any discriminating photos of me in the digital world. I don’t care. If I understand it correctly, if YOU post a photo of me and tag me, MY friends can see it and comment. Well ok. I don’t see the harm in that. My friend’s friends probably could care less about me and won’t comment. I know I’ve seen other people’s photos and thought “meh, whatever”. I guess I just don’t take the time to dig into people’s lives that I know nothing about.
I don’t tag people in my photos at all. I don’t see why I should be bothered. If you don’t know who I’m showing in the photo, then you shouldn’t care. Now I do Car Meets and those folks will tag THEMSELVES, which again, I don’t care. Only photos which are blocked are AJ.
Facebook just doesn’t seem all that complicated to me. Its free and its just a gossip and game site really. I don’t take it so seriously.
Am I missing something, here?
