facebook question and online bullying...

ok..so my old bf from hs's sister is my friend on facebook. i think she is in like 9th grade.

she posts the most disgusting things for being so young. disgusting sexual lyrics from rap songs and just dirty language.

today it was the worst. it was insults spewed towards another girl. here is a taste, excuse the language:

You are pathetic, immature, *****, **** talker, two faced dumb *****. keep your mouth shut and you would not ALWAYS have problems with people or keeep running it and your gonna get it handed to you sweetthannnngg.

soo i went on the girls page she was talking about and this made me so sad. they spewed insults at her. a lot of name calling and hitting below the belt. threats and just nasty, vile things.

its gone now so i cant show u, but there were 90 posts back and forth.

my question is, can i report my friends sister? i would hate myself if i read this girl committed suicide or something.

I think you can. I did it on MySpace back when I had an account. My cousin was the target of bullying and some girls made a really nasty page about her so I reported it.

I would if it were me.

I think this is a great way to look at it!

The whole thing is just said and disturbing and to think: ANY kid can be a potential victim...

So glad you reported her! We need advocates who fight against that kind of internet bullying. It is disgusting and there should be zero tolerance.

Hi I am a regular reader but 1st time Poster. I had to reply once i saw your post. My sister is going through a lot of bullying on facebook. We reported it many times to them but got nowhere. So she ended up reporting it to the cops and they are taking it very seriously.
Slight difference was someone set up a page in her name and put a lot of horrible things up pretending to be my sister. They also started giving my sisters # to random men saying she wanted to meet up etc etc. (My sister never posted it on facebook so it must be someone she knows)
No news back yet but they said they will be tracking the person or people down and going very hard on them for this form of bullying.

No one deserves this. They are cowards that hide behind the internet.

Facebook will likely do nothing, they will just say block the user. I would tell the parents. Next time print screen and email it to them too.

Re: facebook question and online bullying...

I really wish all social networking sites would ban everyone under 18. Its obvious kids can't be mature enough to handle these amazing outlets of communication. I also feel children don't understand the implications of posting photos/content and the fact once you click okay it stays on there forever.

I wanna throw up. I do.

My dd is 11 and acts 11 for now...
she has no FB account and not even her own e-mail address but soon those days will be over and I pray to god that I do not have to go through this.

Report this.

Re: facebook question and online bullying...

I would 100% tell your friend's parents. Reporting it to FB will only make her create a new page with a different email address and she'll likely blame the girl she's bullyingChat Icon

Re: facebook question and online bullying...

You definitely did the right thing. What is even more curious to me is that if she is friends with family members etc., what does her family think of her remarks?

I mean an adult has to see what she is writing, no? Where is the parental supervision? Just wondering about that.

FYI my sister is 26 so it is not just kids.

Thanks Ladies. It is terrible alright. And it is worse that they wont do anything about it. I was watching on the news and they wont even take photos down of a poor womans dead daughter someone posted.

Re: facebook question and online bullying...

The family is trash. Sad but true. There were 7 kids, none of whom are outstanding citizens. I am no longer friends with the girl and they are all friends with her on facebook. So they see what she writes. The oldest brother who actually has a 9 year old daughter, liked that comment. There is no use in telling the family. The mom hates me bc when we were in high school my friend moved in with my family bc of the disgusting mother she had and living conditions were gross. I actually witnessed one sister pull her pants down and pee on another sister. The older brother used to beat me up. My dad got cps involved and then when my friend moved back in, her mom hated me.
