Facebook Someone signed up with my email address

Someone signed up for a Facebook account with my main email address. I saw one day there was a verification email- and I figured if I did not verify, it wouldn't be activated.
However every day I get notifications for this guy, with possible friends. He does seem to have multiple Facebook accounts with the same name, and I see the same friend suggestion in each.

I went to log in and I guess I could reset the password with my email- however there is also a cellphone (partial number) he can get texts- if the number is in fact real.

Why would someone do this? Should I just try to reset the password and then deactivate it? Or sign in and change the email address or cellphone number? I just don't want some random person associating my email account with his life.

(I do have my own Facebook account under a different email- but I never use it)

UPDATE_ Looks like I was able to remove email from this guy's Facebook.

Report it to facebook just in case it's a fraudulent account. They will investigate and deactivate the account.I wouldn't log in and deactivate it yourself, let facebook sort it out and ban the user.

I would log in and shut down the account permanently. I think you can choose a reason when you shutdown your account. I would also contact Facebook to let them know. Maybe text the guy and be what the hell? Lol

Thank you both for your replies. I did find the place on Facebook where I could report it. I got an email back to confirm that this is the email account I want to remove and then an email saying it was removed.

I did not think it would be so easy (If it works) and I did not think it would be so easy.
