Fake Flowers Outside: Tacky or Practical?
What do you think of people putting fake flowers in their outside flower boxes and yard?
Is it tacky because there should be real flowers there?
Or is it smart because they are no maintence?

Re: Fake Flowers Outside: Tacky or Practical?
Honestly, I have never seen fake flowers outside. Inside, yes, but in my opinion, the real things are better outside.

Re: Fake Flowers Outside: Tacky or Practical?
I totally hate fake flowers. I hate them both outside and inside. I find them to be tacky.

I've seen it done where it looks very pretty...and I've seen it where it's very obviously fake and it looks tacky.
I suppose if you have a black thumb and still want flowers, there's nothing wrong with it if you spend the money on quality and not $.99 stems that are way too bright and then fade super quick.

Re: Fake Flowers Outside: Tacky or Practical?
I put other... I don't think it's tacky or practical.
I feel like if you're going to put fake flowers outside, you're making more work for yourself... I would assume that those fake flowers would get moldy and dirty really fast and would need to be cleaned... I'd rather get on my hands and knees and weed for 5 minutes than clean off mold and dirt from a fake flower....

My friend's yard gets little to no direct sun and it's extrememly difficult to keep a garden and is considering artificial plants. They have come a long way from plastic flowers and look much better then dead flowers.

Tacky in a garden may be nice in flower boxes if done well (ie: hydranga type flowers). You have to spend the $$$ for realistic flowers not the bright red and yellows tulips from the $1 store

Re: Fake Flowers Outside: Tacky or Practical?
My neighbor up the block has it at first it was just in a pretty bucket , then she went hog wild and added fake tulips up the driveway, by the steps etc. That is just plain tacky. I do not see anything wrong with a little but not where it looks like it is overtaking your yard. I am just gald it is not right next door to me.

Sounds just like my neighbor. That's what made me ask.
At first, it was pretty and understated, but now it looks obviously fake.

Re: Fake Flowers Outside: Tacky or Practical?
Outside of Jackson's daycare they have fake sunflowers in a flower box. They don't look THAT bad, but to be honest, I can't stand fake flowers or greenery. Very tacky.

My mom has fake flowers outside her house. I, personally, think she's nuts, but I'm not going to say 1 word.

not a fan of fake flowers - period
I had my wedding florist re-create my bridal bo-k in silk flowers. that is the only thing I have (or ever will lol) that isn't real.
