fall/winter 09 babies....how did the LO's handle the heat/humidity this weekend?
for all of luce's tropical blood, he hated it.
he couldn't sleep at all yesterday...he was a sweatbox. only when we had the ac on in the car did he sleep.
neither of our homes have AC (we have a small unit we could put in our bedroom in BK and one small unit in the den of our house upstate, which is the hottest room in the house) but I HATE AC.
of course I will suck it up for him, but I am wondering if we are going to need units in the rooms he frequents during the day....or will he respond well enough to the fans we have.
anyway, how did they all do? any similar issues? I made sure he had some water, but I have to say, the heat made me so uneasy.

My Son is ALWAYS HOT!! So last night we had him in his pj with feet! He woke up at 2:45 I think b/c he was hot. I took it off and left him in his onesie!!
I think we'll need to put the ac in his room earlier than I expected!! DS does NOT like the heat!!

She did ok, I had her only sleeping in a short sleeve onesie b/c I didn't want to turn on the central air just yet. I gave her a couple of her bottles cold...she does have her mommy's hair though-it started to curl in the heat. I also tried to feed her mostly in her newborn to toddler rocker...b/c whatever part of her head was touching my arm when I held her giving her a bottle turned soaking wet.

Re: fall/winter 09 babies....how did the LO's handle the heat/humidity this weekend?
Thanks for posting this, Jess. Ethan has been hot since December 22nd
He is never in layers, sweats through the night and he can actually keep YOU warm if you are chilly.
He hated yesterday. Cried until we put him in the AC. I made a fan out of a magazine while we were at the park and everytime I stopped fanning him (he's like a Nigerian Prince this kid) he got fussy.
I need a pool ASAP He was nude all weekend, if that answers your question

DD slept in a onesie last night with her ceiling fan on. I even put her in bed unswaddled!!!!! I was so nervous...but she slept through the night! So I guess that's the end of her swaddle.
During the day we were in NYC and she was hot and sticky...but she handled it pretty well. She only complained when she was hungry!

We had DS in just a diaper all weekend & we put a short sleeve coverall on him to sleep with feet exposed. I guess he was sluggish from the weather because he slept pretty well at night. I couldn't get him to take a good nap during the day though.

Re: fall/winter 09 babies....how did the LO's handle the heat/humidity this weekend?
he was sleepy yesterday, napped fine in the morning but was off the rest of the day.
I made sure to give him water as well.
I slept him in a onsie last night with his sleepsack, he slept fine.
We are getting AC units for our living room and his room. Our house gets to hot, I can't have him playing & sleeping in there with so much heat. (we usually just had one for our room)

Re: fall/winter 09 babies....how did the LO's handle the heat/humidity this weekend?
He did ok during the day. We were outside a lot in the shade and there was a nice breeze. I took him to the mall in the late afternoon too for a bit (although it was pretty warm there).
We put him down in a onesie for bed last night around 8pm. Around 9, he woke up SCREAMING bloody murder because he was hot. DH put in his window ac while I held him in front of the fan in our bedroom (which is bigger than the one in his room). I put on his sleepsack and put him back in his crib. After that, he STTN for the first time in months (DH and I didn't because we were waiting for his wake up between 1-3am and checking on him).

We spent the night at my Moms. My brother put the ac in yesterday. DS slept for ten straight hours...He was in a onesie and feety pj's with a lightweight blanket on him...

Re: fall/winter 09 babies....how did the LO's handle the heat/humidity this weekend?
DD was a sweaty mess yesterday! She had trouble with her naps and apparently takes after DH with the amount of sweat that was coming from her all day.
We didn't put the AC in our rooms upstairs yet and it was insanely hot in our bedrooms last night... must have been 88 degrees.
DD slept in only a diaper and was still a little sticky. She slept OK though. Woke up around 2:00 am, but she put herself back to sleep with only a few pacifier reinsertions!

We have central a/c so it really didn't bother him. He loved being taken for a walk in the later afternoon. I'm not looking forward to his first thunderstorm, which this time of year usually brings.

We were outside at a party......DD was fine, DS was miserable!! I had to take him in a few times to cool off. The house was really cold though, cause the AC was pumping!! At home....we had the ceiling fans on and they were fine.

DS cried until we put the AC on. Both Saturday night and last night. I'm so glad we had it installed a few weeks ago!!

2 baths and lots of sweat lol..that was his day. This summer should be fun, because he is definitely a sweaty boy.

I think DD takes after me - we both brave the heat really well. She wasn't sweaty or uncomfortable at all
She did take a few very nice long naps though!

Re: fall/winter 09 babies....how did the LO's handle the heat/humidity this weekend?
Not sure if anyone remembers my post on relationships almost 2 summers ago....BUT
When my son experienced his first summer *I* was a basketcase with him being overheated....and I got the crap flamed out of me for insisting that my ILs put the AC on.
Since then, we rarely go over there when it's insanely hot, and I am still a nut about overheating.
My point?
Be careful with your LOs....they do not have the capability of cooling themselves like we do as older people....keep them cool!

i don't know where you all live but my house is still cold at night! last night DD was in a long sleeve onesie and fleece footie pjs. today it's the same but with a short sleeve.
during the day she was perfectly fine and enjoyed her kiddie pool and swinging on the swingset with her brother!
