false positive tests
So Monday I went to the ER with heavy bleeding and lots of pain in my side and abdomen. I had the IUI done 10 days prior (5/29) and AF would have been due today. So i was freaking the eff out as to what was going on.
They did a urine pregnancy test which was negative. I had blood drawn at the lab, but that takes 3-4 days so as of now I still dont know the results of those.
They were not sure at the time if it was an early period, or some other reason for the bleeding. The dr. at the ER made me feel like a jerk telling me that it was probably just AF arriving early. I have never been 5 days early nor do I have the pain that I had. It just felt completely different than AF. But I figured the hormones may have been effing with me.
vaginal ultrasound results on tuesday said I had a ruptured cyst. Bleeding / spotting has stopped as of late yesterday. SO just for shits and giggles I tested on the dip stick tests I have b/c AF would have been due today. 2 last nite and one this morning showing light lines.
the hospital test on Monday was negative.
are these tests screwing with me?? Could this be false?

I agree. It was probably too early on Monday to get a positive test.
Congrats!

I've been told there's no false positives. A line is a line. I would ask for 2 betas, see if the #s double. GL!

Totally agree; especially if you used internet cheapies or wondofos. There are always bad batches of those. If you get a BFP on FRER you may be pregnant; anything else you could be disappointed.

I agree, and unfortunately I've had faulty tests with the wonfdo tests. Better to test with a FRER.
Good luck!!

what are wondofo's???
the test Im using I used when I was pregnant with DS. they worked then, but the thought crossed my mind that maybe these were a bad batch.

false positive tests
wondfo's are a brand of internet cheapie pregnancy sticks.
It is possible that you were too early and you are indeed PG. I would test again. If you see a line within the test's timeframe, you are probably pregnant. I like FRERs (first response early results)... if you see a line with any pink to it.... you're pregnant... and they're very sensitive so they can pick it up early. If you pick up your test 2 hrs later and notice a faint line that wasn't there earlier, it is probably just an evaporation line or indent in the test.
TEST TEST TEST..... and tell us how it goes :)

Re: false positive tests
I've done a ridiculous amount of POAS'ing (was pregnant 7 times in 18 months - had 6 losses) and I've never really found a problem with any test. Dollar store, wondfo, FRER… if I had 2 lines, I was going to have a positive beta. And cheapness has nothing to do with sensitivity - I once got 2 lines on a Wondfo when my Beta was 10 that day, and 2 lines on a FRER when my Beta was 8.
If you see 2 lines, there is HCG in your system. If the 2nd line is really faint and you're 14 dpIUI… that might be a bad sign. Or you might have had a late implanter. You could test again today to see if it's darker, or wait for the beta on Monday. Good luck either way.

Re: false positive tests
A ruptured cyst can give you a false positive pregnancy test (Google it). They can release beta hcg. Only way you will know if true pregnancy is watching numbers and seeing ultrasound.
Talk to your RE.
Hope it is a true pregnancy!

Im pretty sure its not a true pregnancy. Its so weird..its gone from 2 lines to none, back to 2. So maybe it still is from the cyst. but I would think it would have shown up monday at the hospital but tested negative.
Ehh...
i have a follow up with my primary care to go over my ultrasound. and I've contacted RMA of PA to set up an appt.

Re: false positive tests
You can't tell... I've had tons of false negatives the 2 times I was really pregnant. I'm sorry. Sounds frustrating.
