Sorry to crash-
I just wanted to say that they probably put you in the back because it's against fire code to have strollers next to a booth or in a walkway next to the table.
When I used to waitress people would get all cranky if they asked for a booth and I couldn't let them keep the stroller open next to it, but if the fire marshall were to make a surprise visit the restaurant would get fined.
As for suggestions-
-The Ground Round - Friendly's - Dave and Busters (for older kids) - LI Cheeseburger

Re: family friendly places to eat
For some reason Cheesecake Factory brings out the worst in DS He's GREAT every place else!
Five Guy Burgers on Levittown is more fast food-ish but family friendly. Budget friendly, too
Bertuccis too!

I think diners are the best. There seems to always be a children's side and an non - children's side.
I go to Apollo on Merrick Ave.
There are several restaurants in the city that have their own separate rooms for kids and their parents. I wish LI had that.

Re: family friendly places to eat
We go EVERYWHERE with DS, even to places that most would not consider "family friendly". If you make a reservation, ask for a high chair. If they say they don't have any or act snooty, move on. You won't enjoy yourself in this type of place

Re: family friendly places to eat
Most diners, pizza places, etc. are family friendly. We also go to regular restaurants early sometimes, around 5 (with the retirees). That way there is plenty of room for his infant seat, it's quiet, and if he starts to cry he won't bother many people.

that's what we do we just go out early- that way we aren't bothereing most people- the restaurants are usually empty between 5-6

Oh, that's good to know about diners. That's one place we haven't gone yet with DD.
