Family friendly winter vacation ideas?

Anyone have any ideas? We don't want to travel too far, but we're sick of Florida. Where else can we go?

Re: Family friendly winter vacation ideas?

I recently went to Manchester VT and stayed the The Equinox Resort. It was very family friendly and Stratton Mtn is about 15 minutes away.

I am in NC, so we just go for daytrips...but once josh hits 3 we will be heading to snowshoe, WV.

we took him skiing last year and it was a nightmareChat Icon our plan was to switch off while we pull him around on a little sled...too many people, could not find my DH to relieve me.Chat Icon

I think the actual resort only gives lessons to 4 yr olds...but here's a private link for 3 year olds
skiing

You are in PA, right? Whitetail is in Mechanicsburg and is nice. We stayed at a b&b there a few years ago.

I'm pretty sure they start ski lessons pretty young there too.

GREAT WOLF LODGE

Alex would LOVE it. It's in the Poconos, indoor water park, magic theme in the whole place. Walking down the halls of the hotel, you wave your wand at the pics on the wall and they come to life and give you clues etc

Here's the link

eta: and then you're in the mountains....I'm sure you could find skiing around there too Chat Icon

I was just going to suggest this!! She's 3, right? 3 is the perfect age for this place- I cannot wait for DS to be old enough to take him! My friend goes there all the time with her DD who is Alex's age- at least 3 times a year, the kid loves it!

Mt. Snow in Vermont has ski school for 3 year olds.

ETA: Also Burke Mtn in Vermont. We are planning to go there when DD is 3.

Re: Family friendly winter vacation ideas?

We ski at Mt Snow- have a place up there. We signed 3 year old dd up for lessons and ski school this season. It is great up there- not too developed, great inns and restaurants, lots to do.... inner tubing, hore drawn sleigh rides, shopping in Manchester, snow mobiling.... We really love it there.
