You are not overreacting. I dont like anyone in my family or DH's posting pictures of Abby without my permission but they do it anyway and it pizzes me off.

If I post pics on FB I am going to assume that family members might steal it to post on their own walls to show their friends. I'm okay with that. But entering the pic into the contest without even running it by you is very disrespectful and I would be upset

ITA. It's one thing to steal your pics to show off how cute your grandson/nephew/godson etc. is, but completely different to submit his picture into a contest without your permission. I would absolutely say something.

Personally, I'd be VERY put off by it and would have to say something. Chat Icon

I agree. I would have to say something, it is my child and you never know who looks at those pictures!

Honestly, I wouldn't care what my DH said (then again, I am a hot head!) if this happened to me, I would definitely rip this person a new assshole! I am so friggin pisssed for you right now!! If you don't say something, then whose to say it won't happen again with this person or another? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm probably in the minority here but I would try and take into consideration two things. How old is the cousin? Are we talking about a mature adult who should know better or a young person/adult who may not realize that it is not proper to do so. And second of all, does this cousin have children of their own? I ask because I think parents tend to have a different view on whether this is appropriate or not because we know what we have to worry about whereas non-parents may or may not know or have the same kind of worries that parents have. I don't know, I just would probably cut some more slack if either of the two are true. If not, and this is a mature adult who has children of his/her own, then definitely no excuses.

I'm on the fence here... as much as I agree with the points you & others have made, I almost look at it as a compliment! She obviously thinks your DS could be america's next top baby and wanted you, your DH & your DS to receive deserved praise.

Again, I see everyone's point, and I am not a fan of people stealing my pics and posting them, but perhaps it was a harmless, sweet gesture?

Reason #1 I don't post pics of my kids on the internet -
ANYONE can access them and do whatever they want w/o my permission -

That said, I'd ABSOLUTELY say something to her - regardless of whether or not you care if he was entered in teh contest, she did it w/o your permission - that is NOT her child, it's NOT her decision to just go and spash his face all over the world !!

Ditto, I only have very limited access to my kids pictures online. I wish that FB would enable a right-click blocker. Chat Icon

I would absolutely say something. Not only is it instrusive in a parenting way; like you needed to get that picture entered, but in addition do they even consider the safety issue?
