Re: Fancy PJ's for Hospital
When I toured the hospital, they recommended PJs and a pillow that we wouldn't mind throwing out afterwards.
When I had my surgery, I just wore the hospital gown. I was in a hospital - was I supposed to dress up???

Yeah I am all about black velor lounge pants & nursing tops
yeah-- I think this is the way I am going to pack
A lot of the hospitals won't let you wear pants because they need to check you so frequently that it's bothersome to remove pants. erf...another question to ask at the tour in 2 weeks.
I'm really glad for this board so now I know what to expect. I feel like its going to be a total loss of dignity with the nurses coming around to look at your pad. Is that what they are checking? The pad to see how much blood you lose? Not looking forward to this aftermath.

Re: Fancy PJ's for Hospital
I never bled through my undies and onto my cloths and bed and I had a vaginaly birth. I also would definitly not bring nice pj's to the hospital because you never know.

Re: Fancy PJ's for Hospital
I agree. Bring something nice so you don't feel like a total slob in a hospital gown with no backside....but maybe hold off on it being fancy/special stuff unless you don't care if it gets ruined. It is a lot of blood/bleeding, but you should be able to change your pads often enough to keep things somewhat clean. I took and wore my own gowns, but I would have them bunched up under by back instead of under my butt as well.
I'd stick with gowns also b/c the nurse/s will be coming in to look at your "stuff" quite often. Do you really want to say "hold on, let me pull my pants down" OR feel like a baby yoruself while she does it? _______________________

Re: Fancy PJ's for Hospital
You know, thats what everyone told me so I didn't take any PJ's, I stayed in the stupid hospital gown the whole time. This time I am getting nice PJ's and if they get ruined oh well. I had so many visitors who were taking pics and I looked like crap in the hospital gown.

Actually, Lastchance told me she bought some cheapy ones for the hospital - I think thats a great idea - this way you can just chuck them if they get too messy....

No, they are checking you both front and back.
They are usually really nice and make the ice packs for you which help with the swelling.

That is probably what I will do. Target has some cute ones for pretty cheap.

Definitely bring stuff you don;t mind getting ruined. By the second day I wanted out of the hospital gown so I put some pjs on. I really didn't care if I mssed them or not. Besides the blood I also lost control of my bodily functions trying to make it to the bathroom, so it was good I was wearing something I didn't care about.
I'm concentrating more on comfort. You can bleed a lot and the nurses will have to come in and check on you quite often. And if you've had a c-section - they need to be able to quickly access your stitches (and you really won't want anything NEAR that scar anyway).

Re: Fancy PJ's for Hospital
I bled a lot, and I also didn't have the energy to even get out of the hospital gown.
