Re: Fantasy Football widows...

DH went to San Diego for his draft on Friday. He returned yesterday. The guys come from all over the country. The location of the draft is chosen based on who won the league the year before. If you come in last, you get first draft pick. DH has been to San Diego, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Madison, Wisconsin and Montreal (even though there are no Canadian teams in the NFL) for drafts in the past. The guys live all over the country too and most of them came to our wedding. Good lord now that I think about it, we had a Fantasy Football table AND a table full of the guys DH plays REAL football with!

The draft for DH is tomorrow. Yesterday he met with his partner to plan their picks-- he printed out all his stuff, etc.

Oh, the joys of football season.

Yeah, it gets bad. However, it is what he loves and it doesn't hurt anyone (the draft - not the playing - THAT hurts). I know where he is when he plays. I know where he is when he watches and monitors his Fantasy league(here at home- NOT drunk in a bar face down in a bowl of Corn Nuts).

He knows I hate football. He knows my opinion on Fantasy sports. But I never keep him from enjoying what he loves and thats why he is ok with my opinions.

I agree.

We could do a GTG at the Source mall if Dave and Busters had WiFi. The could watch games and monitor their fantasy leagues while we all went to Fortunoff.

Exactly. What I dislike about it at this point is how time consuming it is from September through January.

To be fair, I HAVE actually tried to learn the game so as not to discount it before seeing what it was all about on more than one occasion.

Re: Fantasy Football widows...

Take it easy on us ladies! lol jk. Can I ask though how much money is at stake here for some of these leagues your DHs are involved in? I LOVE fantasy football but I've never gone past the free leagues.

Re: Fantasy Football widows...

My DH is in THREE fantasy football leagues and one fantasy baseball league. Baseball is winding down finally.

He had one football draft a few weeks ago, the other two are the next two nights. He is going to NJ for them.

The trophy for one football league, which we have had the pleasure of winning for the last two years, is a gigantic bronze statue of a fat, bald, beer drinking man in a recliner. "Gus" as he is known sits atop a big wood platform; this trophy weighs 27 lbs. I ran outside to the car to take a photo of it so I can post it. (DH wants to know what I am up to.) He is bringing it to the draft tomorrow.

I can only hope that it will be another wife's turn to dust Gus this year. Is it wrong to root against your own husband? Chat Icon

My gripes are not on the men but on the sport. It isnt personal at all and DH knows it!

I just asked DH about the money and he said the winnings are insignificant. He actually does it for the glory and gloating of a win. I guess this could justify separate bank accountsChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon.

Apparently, there is also a "statue" which is not really a statue but a hurricane glass purchased in New Orleans some years back. Im guessing they fill it up at every draft.

Same with my DH.

Mine calls his prep "studying", as if he is trying to pass the Bar Exam or get into medical school. It is rediculous! Funny to a point, but rediculous.
