Re: Farmers Market in Copiague and Amityville
I went to the one in Amityville on Saturday. While I wouldn't exactly consider it cheap (what produce is these days), I am definitely planning to go back. I did get a good deal on a HUGE bunch of basil.
I also bought a loaf of Italian bread that was so delish. It didn't get hard right away either.

Re: Farmers Market in Copiague and Amityville
I went to the Amityville one again this morning, so nice.
The lady who runs the big fruit/veggie tent was talking with some people who brought up the fact that there aren't many good farmers markets anymore.....she was saying she comes from all the way out East.....Orient Point....and as the new generations inherit the farms now, none of the younger kids want to put in the hard work and the time to sell their goods.
Sad. I think this would be a great business for LI, but I can understand how much of a process it can be. I also would venture to guess they would be lucky to often break even.
I still want to check out Copiague as well since this is supposed to be for anyone from the area to sell at.

Re: Farmers Market in Copiague and Amityville
I want to go to the Copiague one tomorrow (Sunday) morning.... I love farmers markets. I used to go to the one in Islip Town Halls parking lot... I suspect its going to be alot of the same vendors since, as the PP said, there arent alot of people who sell at the markets anymore.
I understand the Copiague one is open for anyone who lives local to sell whatever they grow too....
