Fatal Crash on LIE early this morning..
Just watched the news and saw that there was a crash at exit 57 or 58.. whichever is Central Islip. It was at about 130am this morning.. a father and his 2 young children were trapped in the vehicle and died  The baby was 10 months and the older child was 5. Im looking for anything in newsday but it happend to late. How awful.. they are saying its too early to tell what went wrong but it looked as though he lost control of the vehicle and it exploded 
 for the mother and wife that is left without her family.

That's awful....
On a side note, I've wondered what is the point of the car accident gallery on Newsday's website was. Like cyber rubber-necking? But now I see that maybe if people took a good look at those wrecks, they would SLOW down, be careful and not drive drunk. The amount of fatal crashes due to drunk driving, reckless driving and speed just disgusts me.
I hope this horrific accident was truly a freak accident and not due to any of the above.

Hate to say it, but something isn't adding up with the entire thing though. I wonder why he was out so late with the children and how no one saw if there was an accident or what happened .
Ahhh I just saw in the OP that he lost control, that makes more sense than the car just randomly catching on fire on the side of the road

Yeah.. but I did see on the news that apparently he was on the way home from his brothers house, he was helping do renovations on his home. The mother works at a hospital and was at work.. that was news 7 said.

Ahhh I just saw in the OP that he lost control, that makes more sense than the car just randomly catching on fire on the side of the road
But were there witnesses? I thought they said police just came up on the car and it was on fire.

I agree. I wish more people would take a look at those pictures from time to time -- especially in the warmer months. How many times I read the description and the accidents occur on a Friday or Saturday night at like 3am or 4am -- and how many times it says someone was arrested for DUI or that DUI is suspected as a cause... it is absolutely JAW dropping. Not to say this was the case in this accident - not sure what happened yet but looking at the gallery you can't help but realize how dangerous our roads are due to speed, recklessness, etc.
I'm shocked by this accident - I can't even imagine what that mother is going through - and how horrible it was for the victims.
