Favorite Superbowl Recipes
I'm hosting my first superbowl party and have been searching for some great recipes for some snacks and food.
I'm doing the "usual" chips and dips but am looking for something new.
If you have a favorite please share them!!
Thanks!

Re: Favorite Superbowl Recipes
Something that always gets raves, but that is also really easy to make is a Cheesy Bread Bowl:
Hollow out the center of a round loaf of bread. In a seperate bowl, combine 1 can of diced tomatoes and 1 block of velveeta cheese. Microwave until the cheese is all melted. Pour the cheese mixture into the center of the bread bowl. Serve with crackers and the bits of bread from the center.

Re: Favorite Superbowl Recipes
cocktail meatballs.....my favorite!!!
mix chopmeat with eggs, breadcrumbs and a dash of milk (depends on how much chopmeat you use how much of the other ingredients you use, you want them the consistency of regular meatballs)
make them into mini-meatballs and place in a baking dish
in a seperate bowl mix together a bottle of chili sauce, a can of beer and 1/2 cup brown sugar. pour over meatballs.
bake at 350 for about 30-40 min (til bubbley) then lower to 250 and bake another hour til sauce thickens.

Re: Favorite Superbowl Recipes
I used to make a spinach dip that you can get the recipee on the back of the Knorrs vegatable packet, but now I found the spinach dip at Cosco or BJ's is sooo good I just buy that one and put it in a breadbowl. Everyone loves it.
Mini hot dogs
Crescent rolls hot dogs
form the crescent rolls into squares and cut them into strips. Cut up the hot dogs into pieces and wrap the dogs in the roll. Follow the crescent roll instructions on the tube for baking.

Re: Favorite Superbowl Recipes
I made Nacho's last year that went over well. Cook chopmeat in a frying pan. Add either taco seasoning or some cumin and chili powder. Heat some cheesewiz in the microwave. Heat some black bean on the stove in a small frying pan. Heat the nachos on a baking sheet for about 20 min. Put the chopmeat, beans and cheesewiz over the nachos. I usually throw on some diced tomatoes as well. Top with some shredded mixed mexican cheese.

Re: Favorite Superbowl Recipes
This is what I'm doing... some sort of ribs in the crock pot tortilla roll ups buffalo chicken wings pigs in blankets cheese/crackers/dip ??? It's just DH and I this year so I'm not doing too much.
My parents go to is called haystacks. Easy to make! They just put all of the ingredients in bowls and everyone serves themselves.
To serve, basically, you put Fritos in a bowl and top it with chili then with any other topping, such as: cheese, onions, tomato, lettuce, olives, jalpenos, sour cream, peppers, etc! The best part is that it is customizable to everyone's tastes.

Re: Favorite Superbowl Recipes
my favorite spinach dip is 1 brick of frozen chopped spinach, thawed, squeeze out all the excess water. 1 tub of sour cream, I guess 16 oz is the regular size, and one packet of onion soup mix. Mix the onion soup mix and the spinach into the sour cream. That's it, so easy and it's so good.

Re: Favorite Superbowl Recipes
We bring this dish everywhere and we always get compliments and there are never any leftovers!
Taco Salad
1 pound lean ground beef 1 (1.25 ounce) package taco seasoning mix 1 (16 ounce) can chili beans 1 (16 ounce) bottle French dressing 1 head iceberg lettuce 1 (14.5 ounce) package tortilla chips 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese 1 cup chopped tomatoes 4 tablespoons sour cream 1/2 cup prepared salsa Add to Recipe Box My folders: DIRECTIONS In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and drain excess fat. Stir in the taco seasoning, chili beans and French-style dressing. Fill the dressing bottle 2/3 full of water and add to the skillet. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Crush the bag of chips, open the bag, and toss the broken chips into a large bowl with the lettuce, cheese and tomatoes. When the meat mixture is done, combine it with the lettuce, tomatoes, chips and mix well. Then, add salsa and sour cream.
I've made it with ground turkey also. You can use French or Catalina dressing and you definitely don't need a full bottle - half to 3/4. I also do not refill and dump the water in. I've also made it w/o the chili beans. I use Doritos crumbled up instead of regular tortilla chips and usually serve Tortilla Scoops on the side.

The only thing I use full-fat is the bacon (lower sodium though) and the mayo. I buy 2% cheese, the fat-free cream cheese and low fat sour cream. It tastes fine. I've never made it full fat.

Re: Favorite Superbowl Recipes
I'm making:
Chili in my crock pot
Hot Wings -- buy wings, throw away tin tray....fill with butter, hot sauce and cook until chicken is almost falling off bone.
Buffalo chicken dip--- pretty similar to what was pp but I use marie's blue cheese dressing, shredded cheese, creamchease, and i buy a pre cooked chicken, take fork and pull the chicken so it's shredded chicken.
Salsa Dip--- I take cream cheese, spread it out on the bottom of a pie dish (filling it), layer of salsa, then just shredded cheese...this one is always gone the fastest
then the usual: Veggies & spinach dip (i use knorrs recipe) pepperoni, mozz, chedder cheese... crackers
