Feedback on these schools for SN

We are very close to decided which house to choose, and only hesitant because of questions about the schools!
We need to choose from:
Ocean Ave Elementary in Northport
Pulsaki Elementary in Northport
Sunquam Elementary in HHH district

I posted general questions about this on the school age forum but wanted SN specific into as well such as:

1. quality/satisfaction with related services therapists
2. climate of acceptance in class of child with IEP- are kids taught to accept and include them or have you found the child becomes the "outcast"?
3. are kids pushed into collaborative/co-teaching classes or are they allowed into gen ed class with an aid?
4. how flexible is the school in accommodating kids with IEP? Do you feel they are meeting your child's needs or are you often running after them to follow IEP? or even just to be helpful and accommodating with issues that arise?

Thanks for any info and please feel free to send me a private message

Re: Feedback on these schools for SN

Hi, My DD is going into 4th at Ocean Ave and my DS is going into K.

They do not get services, so I can't give you feedback on that. It is a very small school and we are very happy with it.

Good Luck!

Re: Feedback on these schools for SN

I wouldn't ask specifically about the school your house is zoned for, because many districts have different special ed programs in different buildings. So, often it depends on the needs of your child. For example, in my district, there is not a self contained in every building, or an integrated class. I know for sure in HHH that it is like that. Children with SN don't necessarily go to their home school. So, while Sunquam may have some special ed classes, it doesn't have everything. I hope that makes sense. FM me if you have any more questions.
