Feeding problems- with solids
Our doctor gave us the go ahead to start some table food, puffs, cherios, pasta and other stuff. My daughter seems to have a very sensitive gag reflex. She gags on stage 2 peas. She is gaging on the puffs so now she won't put them in her mouth. She will s^ck on the gerber cookies but as soon as a piece breaks off into her mouth even if it's teeny tiny she gags. We are trying some stage 3 foods and the same thing. Does anyone have any suggestions?? She even gagged on pastina. I think we are rushing her and she is obviously not ready. My hubby feels that she has to learn. What do you all think?

No gagging on stage 1 or 2 except for the peas. She will also gag if her ceral is too thick.

She will get used to it. Just give her fewer pastinias with more liquid. She'll get the idea.

Alex had a problem with consistency too.. we skipped peas or other things he had problems with until he showed he was ready.. Trail and error.. Give your lil one what she likes, and try watering it down.. Good Luck!

Re: Feeding problems- with solids
Unless there is a significant problem (as in you've hit a year and baby isn't taking solids) I very much believe in the wait and try again approach. Accepting solids seems to be a switch that off until it turns on by itself, not a learned skill.

Ryan could NEVER eat the stage 3's. I think having both consistencies onfused him and he would always gag.

Re: Feeding problems- with solids
She may not like the peas and thus is gagging to get them out of her mouth.
