Re: Feeling a little overwhelmed....

Hang in thereChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon the first few weeks are so overwhelming especially when all you seem to do is sit and nurse!! but believe me it gets better so fast. your little one is so little and remember you only gave birth 2 weeks ago so your body is raging with hormones right now...I did a lot of weeping the first few weeks.

Maybe your DH could take her for an hour so you could take a drive to the beach, go read a magazine or have a coffee...just get out of the house.

You will feel like you have 90% of the responsibility especiallly since you are BF but believe me it does get easier and I am talking from experience as I EBF for 12 mths and we are still BF at 16mths!!!

In a couple of weeks bella will be bigger and you will be able to take her out more and not feel so trapped.

Re: Feeling a little overwhelmed....

Thanks so much everyone! Chat Icon It's nice to know you're not alone. Today's much better, thank god. I just get so sad when she's crying and I'm alone and I really don't know what to do! Chat Icon I know it's a getting to know you process and we're getting there. I just keep forgetting it's ONLY been 2 weeks! Chat Icon

Re: Feeling a little overwhelmed....

My little one is 5 weeks and I know exactly how you feel!!I have started pumping and DH is great about making me take time to get out during the weekend. Even just a few hours a week helps me feel a little like myself again. Hang in there!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Feeling a little overwhelmed....

Hang in there - I think we ALL have a "I locked myself in the bathroom and cried and cried" story. It gets easier after a few months. And BFing makes it even harder emotionally and physically. Chat Icon

Re: Feeling a little overwhelmed....

you already got some great advice. I just wanted to send more hugs your way and let you know that you are NOT alone.. I had more days of crying along with my crying son in the beginning than I can even remember, and I used to cringe when everyone told me it would get better... but guess what, they were right and it did.. and it will for you too!

You are doing a great job, just don't forget that whenever you are down Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Feeling a little overwhelmed....

Gee I would have throttled my hubby if he went out to relax when my baby was 2 weeks old. He was home everynight to help for quite a while. YOu must be a great wife and mom.

It will get better, breastfeeding will get easier and less frequent too.

Feel better.

Re: Feeling a little overwhelmed....

Chat Icon It really happens to all of us in the beginning. As a new mom, the moments like that seem so all consuming. It will get better with a little bit of time. It would be great if DH would give you a little break to take a nap or just lay in bed and veg out! AS you said you are BFing, so you can't disappear but you could get a little time to yourself.
