Feeling anxious
So I felt the baby move at 16 weeks. Flutters in my belly under my belly button Since then I haven't felt that, just some little kind of tickles that give me the "I want to scratch" sensation, but as soon I go to the spot, it's gone.
Then last week I had that sensation, but repeatedly in the same spot for a few minutes. I think it was the baby.
Since then, nothing. I've tried drinking soda, juice, checking after I eat, at night when I lay down, during work, leaning forward when I sit... nothing.
My SIL lost a baby last year at 18+ weeks. She had no bleeding, nothing. She just went for her next u/s and there was no heartbeat ... I'll be 19w tomorrow and well, I'm just really really really scared.
I know it's ok to not feel movement until after 20 weeks, but since I already have felt some, I just wish it would happen some more. My next appointment is in exactly one week (my 20w anatomy scan). I'm really nervous.

Re: Feeling anxious
It can be VERY inconsistent at this point so I wouldn't worry (I know easier said than done). When I first felt them, it would be DAYS before I felt them again. I didn't feel them consistently until 21-22 weeks.

Re: Feeling anxious
aww don't worry. You are very early to feel anything and the movement will not be consistent this early. I did not feel any consistent movement until well past 24 or 25 weeks.

Re: Feeling anxious
Think positive thoughts! The worrying comes with parenthood - starts in the womb and never ends. My 1st DC is a few years old and I still check DC for breathing at night.

Yes, definitely trying to think positive (I think that's the one piece of advice I've heard the most during pregnancy so far so I try to remember that), but the worry-thoughts keep creeping in.
Thanks everyone, I'm sure everything is fine. I wish baby would move just once soon so that I could really really relax.

Don't worry!
I felt my first flutter around 16 weeks... then felt NOTHING again until 18 weeks! Then it was still flutters.
Around 19 weeks, I felt a teeny thump... and then a few days later, the thumps got so much harder that DH could feel them!
And now... man Yesi, this kid never stops!
Hang in there!

Re: Feeling anxious
I want to add that my doctor only wanted me to start counting kicks at 28 weeks! Before that, he said that it's not really consistent enough and that lack of movement doesn't really mean anything...

This makes me feel better. It's like I already know better, but I need to hear/read it, you know?

Re: Feeling anxious
I had something similar. When I googled a lot of articles said that many women don't feel it til 23 or 24 weeks even. Do you know if your placenta might be anterior? Mine is high and anterior. I felt some flutters around 16weeks and then NOTHING until 20. Then it was inconsistent and now at 27 he's playing soccer.

Re: Feeling anxious
awww try and take it easy. No baby is consistent at this point!!! It's hard not to think the worst but try reading or doing something to distract your self instead. Trust me in a few weeks you'll be posting that you are under attack by baby feet.

Re: Feeling anxious
I should have read your post before I posted mine...LOL. It's like the same thing.
We just have to hang in there. I'm sure we will both be complaining in a few weeks that the kicks are annoying.

Re: Feeling anxious
try to stay calm. I felt my first "flutters" around 13/14 weeks then nothing. The first time I actually felt the baby move I was almost 25 weeks! The doctor explained that it was because I have an anterior placenta. I think the "average" for most people seems to be around 20 weeks to start feeling movement. I know its frustraing, but hang in there...soon enough!
