Feeling bummed
Just taking a minute to wallow in self-pity. I'm just starting my 3rd trimester and the comments about how big I am are really upsetting sometimes. Someone will ask when I'm due and I'll say April and they will look at my stomach with a surprised look on their face and say "oh wow, you have a while to go still!" As if they expect me to give birth tomorrow (some of this may be in my head, I know). And my mom is the worst, constantly calling me "huge" even though I've asked her to stop. On top of that I've had terrible acne since the end of the first trimester. It's clearing up a bit on my face but it's awful on my chest and shoulders. So between feeling fat and looking like I have the hormones of a 14 year old, I'm just feeling icky. And I'm dreading looking for something to wear to my shower.
I know I should just be happy that I'm having a smooth pregnancy and that this is just temporary. But I can't help but be bummed about it sometimes. Thanks for letting me vent (if you got this far )

Re: Feeling bummed
i'm also due in april and I know how you feel
Just because I'm pregnant doesn't mean it's okay to ask how much I weigh, how much I've gained, what size I am now, etc. You would never ask a woman that if she wasn't pregnant so no, it's not okay to ask me now.
I get comments from my parents about how big I am and to watch how much I gain etc. It is really, really hard to hear.
I went shopping the other weekend and I wanted cry at some moments because of how clothes were fitting (and these were maternity clothes).
arghhhh sorry, no advice. Just more vents

Re: Feeling bummed
What upsets me most about this post is what your mother is saying that would upset me more than strangers...and the fact that you told her to stop and she didnt upsets me even more. Im sorry you are going through this, people dont seem to understand how sensitive we are while pregnant and the last thing a pregnant wants to be told is that she is big. Lots of hugs for you!

Re: Feeling bummed
To be honest, i feel fat, huge and uncomfortable and I've only started my 9th week. So obviously, most of it is in my head. But half of it is just discomfort from being so bloated and getting bigger than I have ever been before. I can't imagine what I will look like when I am starting my third trimester. I am small and I know I will look huge and the people in my family say I look huge every time I gain 2 pounds! I think though, when you are pregnant saying "omg you are so huge" "you look like youre going to go soon" is just a way of them complimenting you and making conversation. People don't really know what to say or how to say it and I think it is just something that can comment on. I am sure 50% is in your head. And the other 50% that is truthful?? Yes, you have a healthy happy baby in there and you are going to look big! It'll go away and soon people will be saying "omg you are so tiny" and fawning over how good you look compared to when you were "so huge" now...

Re: Feeling bummed
to you! It's so rude the comments that fly out of peoples mouths when you are pregnant! every time you feel your LO kick and move just smile knowing that you have a little miracle inside of you. Anyone that has something negative to say can go and scratch!

Re: Feeling bummed
I totally understand. I have the same probs as you.... someone actually said "ohhh you have a way to go" to me on tuesday & I wanted to smack her in her mullet haircut!
i also am huge for only 25 weeks & my skin is wretched. I got the Oil of Olay "clarisonic" imitation & I think that helped a little bit. also, as far as makeup- I recently got CoverGirl Oil Control foundation & powder & its awesome. My face isn't greasy by the end of the day & I think it's helped cut down on the breakouts.
I am also thankful to be pregs, but to be so big (I gained almost 30 lbs already) & covered in zits like a pubescent teen is a big change for us & super-hard to deal with/accept. We can't do anything about it & it IS obv for a good cause with an AMAZING outcome but it's wayyyyy hard. & people who aren't going through cant understand it either. I know no words r gonna make you feel better bc none make me feel better really...just know you are def not alone!

Re: Feeling bummed
Hear you.
What I heard at work today (just today!)
"Isn't it too soon for you to be waddling?"
"Whoah, what have you eaten in the past week?"
"Wow, you're really out there now, huh?"
I mean, shut up! I'm almost 6 months pregnant and it doesn't make me feel good about myself to know how huge I am now and how much further I have to go.
The best part? We are all professional communicators for a living.

Re: Feeling bummed
I'm so sorry. I know it's so much easier said than done to just brush people's stupid comments off. But try to. People are just idiots. Just try to focus on your beautiful baby that will be here before you know it!

Re: Feeling bummed
It's okay, you are allowed to feel bummed. Our bodies go through such huge changes it is stressful. I have already gotten comments on how big my breasts are. I'm like, "Excuse me" Only my hubby should be commenting on my breasts, not other women. I am in my 20th week and I feel like a whale. But like the other women said, we have to look at the final outcome. What are we doing this for? And it will all work itself out. I'm most worried about taking all this weight off.

Re: Feeling bummed
Don't listen to any of them - you are beautiful - matter of fact I believe you were "glowing" today.
They can all go suck an egg.
ETA: The other day at work someone said to me "I wonder what will happen first - will your nose get big and spread out or will you start to waddle"

Re: Feeling bummed
Arg. I get this comment last niggt as I am returning from the GYM from my mom, "geeez you are huge". I am 19 weeks with #2 and yes I am bigger but I can't believe I have to go through this again when they all knew how it bothered me the first time! It is bothering me less this time because I see how clueless people are and it seems like it happens to most of us.

Re: Feeling bummed
I am always so surprised to hear this!! You are not big AT ALL! I am not just saying that. . . you are in your third trimester and I think you can still hide it in certain clothes. . .that is not the norm! I think people sometimes have no reference point so they will say oh you are so big or oh you are so small without really knowing anything about it.
and obviously I can only see your face - but it is beautiful! Your skin looks great now!

Re: Feeling bummed
I feel your pain - I get that all the time with this pregnancy and my first pregnancy too.
People feel that when you are pregnant - it's open license to talk to you and say whatever they are thinking.
I've been asked numerous times if I am having twins and when I say no - they respond oh, you are just big. And this is coming from people I don't know!
Hang in there - one trimester left. Try not to let the comments get to you - you will have a beautiful baby soon!
