Feeling Confused about Napping

My DD is 5 mo. Pretty much up until the time she was 4 mo, she would go down for naps very easily. I've always been like a hawk looking for sleepy cues.

Recently I've read on here about sleep regression happening around 4 mo. I am wondering if this is what is happening now. At least one nap a day, she will fight going down even though she's definitely tired.

She recently started to roll over a lot more and I am pretty sure she is teething. She will be crying on her belly and I will roll her back over and give her the paci. This has to happen about 5 times. At night, she has no problem rolling on her belly and sleeping though. Chat Icon

I also find that I am very quick to put the paci in her mouth because I know it will soothe her. I probably shouldn't do that because she can put it in by herself. So sometimes I will just hand it to her. Isn't this better to do to teach her to self-soothe?

When she starts to cry should I just leave her to CIO for awhile? Usually when she is doing a slight crying/whining, I leave her be, but when it's full-on crying, I go right in. I really am so confused and the mommy guilt is a killer.

All opinions welcome, please!

Re: Feeling Confused about Napping

Sorry... I wish I had advice Chloe is 5 1/2 months and im struggling with her sleeping as well. Naps are definitely better than night time though. I find that putting her down before she gets too tired has been helping. Chloe is usually up for 2 hours before she is ready for a nap. I start to put her down in her crib or in the swing 15 min. before that and just let her hang out. She usually just falls asleep on her own. If I wait until she is rubbing her eyes and too tired she fights it. good luck!

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I found everytime there was a new milestone (rolling, sitting, walking) my DS had some sort of sleep disturbance, but it was temporary. My DS never took a paci, so I have no experience there, but I think its perfectly okay to let her while/fuss a bit on her own----at that age I still went right in with full on crying, I didn't start CIO until 6 months or so. That way you are starting to help her learn how to self soothe a bit! GL! Chat Icon
