Feeling down (sorry, long)
I am feeling down for so many reasons. I think it really boils down to the fact that I go back to work on Wednesday. Let me preface this with - I HATE MY JOB and my career path! Therefore, leaving my days at home with Zach (although he started day care last week to help me ease into it) to go to work really saddens me. I did not look for a new job while out on leave b/c i have the flexibility with this job to come in late or leave early if need be for a doc appt or something like that. I need that now with a new baby. The weather is amazing now too and I want to spend it outdoors with Zach, not behind a stupid desk.
I just really want to be a SAHM. We are working towards it but we are not there yet DH needs to build his business more and I carry the benefits and make more than him right now.
To top it all off I am feeling blue about my weight. I am still so overweight from the pregnancy but can't seem to get my butt in gear to lose it. I do WW when I feel like it and hit the gym every so often. I have no motivation for some reason. I have no clothes to wear to work since I refuse to buy anything for myself in whatever size I am now.
I am dying to get Zach to the pool (I live in a subdivision with one in it) but I can't find a swimsuit that looks decent enough on me and I feel comfortable going in public with. I am watching all these women walk by my house today heading to the pool and they all look so good. I am embarassed to go looking the way I do. Everyone says to stop feeling this way that I just had a baby and that it is ok to be a little overwieght right now but that does not help me feel better.
If you read this far, thank you for letting me get this off my chest. It feels good to get it out. We live in NC and I have no family here so that does not help either. My closest friends here do not have kids so it is hard to talk to them about this. I miss my sister who is my best friend and shopping buddy. I could use a good shopping spree right now to make me feel better but going by myself seems lonely.
Guess I just need some hugs from those that feel close to what I am feeling. Thanks.

Re: Feeling down (sorry, long)
I think we have all been there and continue to be there.
I actually got fired from my last job when I was 38 weeks preggo, so I stayed home til Christopher was 5 months old and found a new job and I went in with the motto "This is just work, it is a means to an end" and that is that. I leave work at work and home at home. And I think daycre has been a fabulous thing for my child
As for the weight issue, I undertand that too. I got a swimsuit from Lands End that is a tank top and then shorts, it isn't particuarly stylish, but going in the water is more fun than not, so I don't really care.
Just remember, you have a wonderful son who loves you and doesn't care how you look and that is what is important at the end of the day.

l am sorry you are feeling so down . I wish I was there too!
It takes some time to feel "normal."
It sucks going back to work. Just hang in there. You will get into a routine and it will get better. It will make you cherish the weekend even more. Give Zach and yourself lots of hugs from us

You have alot going on right now...going back to work is a huge change for you. I'm not looking foward to that whatsoever!! I know how you feel about the weight issue...I still have 22 pounds to lose. I actually just went for my annual...I friggin GAINED 4 lbs since my 6 week checkup. Needless to say I left there feeling like crap

Re: Feeling down (sorry, long)
many of us know what youre feeling, I know I do. dont be so hard on yourself.
do you know of any mommy groups in your area ? I know there are several NC moms on here, maybe they can point you in the right direction.
I also know a few girls that moved to NC from LI in the past year or 2. I can contact them if you'd like.
Have a nice cup of coffee, take a walk, write in a journal, get a pedicure.. you deserve to treat yourself and know what a wonderful mommy you are.
