feeling hopeless
Hi Everyone,
I am pretty new to this board. I've been watching everyone, but havent really posted anything. I just had my first visit with Dr. Braverman and although he was nice and I liked him a lot, I am feeling negative about everything. My husbands SA is low and I am pretty sure everything cheks out with me egg supply, ovulate regularly, etc. My husband is going to a urologist tomorrow and on thursday I am doing another 3 day BW again just to be sure. The doctor says we can move forward with IUI, but I just feel like I am just going to be disappointed every month. He said its only a 10 % chance per IUI. Thats sucky. I just feel discouraged already and dont want to have to do all this! I give you guys a lot of credit for all you have gone through. I don't know how you do it. I do have a son, who was conceived naturally, not sure what happened after that....and I feel bad even feeling this way because for a lot of woman its hard to even have one, but I just cant help it. I am finding myself getting angry too.
and if I see one more pregnant woman I am gonna scream!!!!!!

Re: feeling hopeless
just for reference, depending on age, the chance any woman has to conceive each cycle "the traditional way" is only 15-25%, so you arent very far off from that. the key to infertility is staying positive. we all have our down days, but in the long run you have to believe it will happen!! hang in there!!!

Re: feeling hopeless
I was in the exact same situation as you - I could have written your post word for word except I went to the Center for Human Reproduction and not Dr. B. I did one IUI, it didn't work and I didn't want to waste my time so I went on to IVF with ICSI. It worked the first time, I now have a baby girl, in addition to my son who was conceived naturally. I also still have 3 frozen embies if we want to try again. Don't lose hope. If you are going to have infertility, my feeling is that MF is the best kind to have! Good luck and FM if you would like to chat!

Re: feeling hopeless
thanks to both of you. I appreciate the words. Somthimes its hard to stay positive and I guess I just figure I might as well expect the worst so that I wont be really disappointed every month. I also cant talk about this with anyone b/c my husband doesnt want anyone to know. Unfortunately, my insurance doesnt cover IVF and $8000-10, 000 is a little too much for us to swing.

Re: feeling hopeless
You are not alone in this. I hit my rut last week and have been trying to stay positive, but it is easier said than done. I hope everything works out for you!

Re: feeling hopeless
i also in exact same situation. do you mind sharing DH SA numbers? I was also told about 10% per month with IUI, IVF is the only option. and being in denial, i decided to do clomid+timed BD this cycle and just got my AF ( on the day of my beta)
Good luck!!!!!

Re: feeling hopeless
my husbands numbers are
count: 10.5 million motility: 40% normal sperm: 80%
on a side note, Dr. B said Enzo lab is terrible doing SA especially morphology so who knows if the sperm are 80% normal.
He's going to the urologist tonight who specializes in male infertiliy so I am sure he will want it done again. He does have an appointment at Quest next week too. We shall see.
I just wish I would stop thinking about this. Its like an infection in my brain that wont go away.

i am sorry, but i feel EXACTLY the same. except that my DH numbers are worse Count 10 mil, motility 19%, morphology 7%
what does it mean that 80% are normal? what is morphology number?
i can not get it our of my head either. what urologist will he go to?
my DH went to a guy affiliated with Cornel ( the only one we could find who takes insurance) and he re-ran tests on him. We got a call that SA came back bad again, but do not know the numbers. we are going to him on Friday to talk. Please FM me if you want to talk

Re: feeling hopeless
Welcome! I am sorry you are feeling hopeless. Infertility is not an easy journey. The good part is you have taken the first steps and are on your way to getting your BFP. We all go through ups and downs and we're all here for you if you need to vent or talk.
