Feeling really frustrated and need to vent/also need advice
I have posted before about Billy's puking but I feel like I cant take it anymore.
when he was a baby, he had reflux. He was gaining weight so the dr's said it was my choice to put him on meds. I decided not to since he was a "happy spitter" and was thriving.
He always had a very sensitive tummy. He gets all kinds of motion sickness. If he eats something he doesnt like, instead of spitting it out, he gags, then pukes. If he eats and is too active afterwards - he throws up.
He pukes at least once a week, but usually 2-3 times. It doesnt matter where we are or what we're doing. If billy needs to puke, he pukes.
I took him to the dr. and he said he just has a sensitive stomach and a bad gag reflex. And that he would grow out of it. That was a while ago. Now he's 3 and its getting worse.
I feel like I can never go out if he's with me. I constantly worry about if he's gonna puke or not. He did it today at the arboretum (sorry ladies who had to witness that)
I'm starting to worry that maybe its not just all these little things (gag reflex, sensitive stomach, etc.) and that maybe theres something bigger going on. We dont notice a difference if he eats or doesnt eat dairy. It has happened in the middle of the night when he was dead alsleep so I dont know if its reflux. Sometimes his belly hurts him for a while before he gets sick and then afterwards he's fine (like today - right now hes jumping up and down on the couch and laughing)
Does anyone have any stories similar to this? I really wanna push for a GI consult but with my insurance we need a referral and the dr. kind of dismissed my concerns the last time. I just have a gut feeling that this is not right and not normal.

i dont have any advice except if you feel in ur gut that something is wrong then go with it. for months i have felt like something was wrong with alexis' legs but everyone told me it was nothing. now in the past week iv had 3 people mention to me that they see something wrong with the way she walks so i gotta make an appt. i wish i listened to my gut months ago but we will see what happens... and that its nothing.

No idea, but knowing Billy and seeing this happen, many of the times he is MAKING himself throw up and is instantly fine afterwards. If it was some kind of allergy wouldn't he still not feel well for a little while after throwing up?

Thats what I thought. And it used to ONLY happen from motion or gagging, so thats why I didnt push it with the dr.
But now its happening randomly - like in the middle of the night. He acts like he has a virus. If it was anyone else I would say thats what it is. But this has happened (with a bellyache, lethargy and general not feeling well) a few times spread out over the last month (And that does not include the gagging times) I doubt he's had a virus numerous times in one month that instantly goes away after he vomits. And that no one else in our house has caught.
Could it all still be reflux? And maybe he doesnt seem uncomfortable since he's had it since he was born and he's just used to it? I really dont know.

I would ask the doctor again about it, and ask for a GI consult. Is there another doctor in your practice that might be more willing to give a referral?

Re: Feeling really frustrated and need to vent/also need advice
I know I told you today about my sister having a sensitive stomach/sensitive gag reflex but he may have reflux. My nephew has reflux and after he eats trigger foods (things very acidic, chocolate, chips, red meat) he sometimes does clear his throat a lot (acid is in the back of his throat and he can feel it) or gags sometimes.
Can you try to see if he's having any of these trigger foods when he is getting sick?
ETA: I was mean as a child. I sat across from my sister at the dinner table and I would chew my food and then show it to her and make her throw up. My mom said I did this every night for like 6 months. I'm surprised my sister or my parents didn't kill me
