feeling stressed any advice would help

I went for my 32 w growth sono last night. They said the baby;s belly is measuring the size of 30 w not 33. So they said its because the placenta is not getting enough nutrition to the baby. Its not anything I did, its the way the placenta is working. So I had the no stress monitoring and it was fine, amniotic fluid is fine and everything else with the baby looks great. The baby is 4lbs exactly and the baby is breech for now.

So, now I have to go in every week for fluid check and monitoring and they will re-measure the babys belly. They want me to rest when I am home as much as possible and lay on my left side.

Has this happened to anyone, what did they do? I am a nervous wreck.

this EXACT thing just happened to me at my 32 week sono two weeks ago!!!! i am now on bedrest because of it. everything you described is what they told me: my baby was 4 lbs, abdomen measuring a few weeks behind, blood flow to the placenta etc. since the diagnosis, ive been home from work and going twice a week for non stress tests and biophysical profiles. it totally sucks and i really feel your pain, because to me, this really doesnt sound like a huge deal and i resent having to change my whole life. yesterday i asked what the risk to the baby is having a small abdomen and they basically couldnt tell me. it is very frustrating and i am sorry youre going through this too.

Are you with a Peri-Natologist?

I've been seeing one since early on because I was diagnosed with thrombophilia, which is a blood clotting issue that can cause lesions in the placenta. Were you tested for that? Are there lesions on your placenta that are causing the baby not to get as much as the baby needs?

My OB had me on Baby Aspirin since Week 2, thank God, and that seemed to do the trick... to the point where I didn't need to use Lovenox during my pregnancy (only after the baby is born will I have to use it for 2 weeks). In fact, my baby is currently 3lbs 10 ounces at 28 weeks 4 days! 81st Percentile. Baby Aspirin increases the blood flow, which helps the placenta/uterus. Does your doc have you take Baby Aspirin? Of course, don't do anything unless you check with your doc first. I truly thank God for my two docs who are taking good care of us.

I don't know if your placenta issue would be treated the same way, but you can ask. Good luck!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Its really strssful and I also got no answers he just told us and put me on the monitor. I was the last appointment so he was rushing out. I work in medicine and am going to ask around here because I want to know the risks to the baby. They did not put me out on bed rest yet, they are just monitoring. They said I amy just have a small baby, which is fine too. I am sorry you are going through this at least I dont feel alone. its really scary and I feel helpless. i am at work but cant concentrate. Hang in there. Thanks for responding. I feel like no one understands, glad there is someone out there.

I had the same issues starting at 32 weeks. I was put on modified bedrest, had twice and later 3 times/ week appointments to monitor his growth. It was a huge PIA. In the end, he was born completely healthy and the placenta had no issues either( they checked for future reference). He was born at 6lbs 7 oz. which is low average. He is still low on the weight charts at almost 3, he is just not a big kid!

I know it's hard, but try not to worry to much. Your dr. has to be cautious and that's a good thing.

BTW I'm 37 weeks with DC#2 and have had extra growth sonos and everything is normal.

Re: feeling stressed any advice would help

I don't have any experience with the belly measurement but at my 29 week appointment, our baby was measuring a week and 4 days behind. Dr. said as long as she was within 2 weeks, it was fine. Everything else looked great. 2 weeks later she was 3 days behind. Now at almost 37 weeks, she is back to being a week behind. (BTW - she was breech too up until 34.5 weeks). My doctor said her movement, growth and heartbeat all look great so he is not concerned. My fluid is low though so I am being monitored for that now.

My point is, I think it's too early to stress and worry. Chat Icon So much can change between appointments The good thing is that you are going to be monitored weekly now so at least you won't have to wait too long for answers. Good Luck - I'm sure you will be fine Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
