FET #2: Beta is 10

Hi Girls - I wrote yesterday that my period arrived and was ready to hear of a zero beta today. Instead I'm thinking I'm going through another chemical pregnancy. (Beta is 10)

The Dr wants me to come back tomorrow for another blood test.

Has anyone ever had heavy bleeding and a low beta? Is it my period? I'm so confused.... geesh!

I know it's not easy. Just remember it never hurts to get a second opinion. You can still love your practice and continue there and still see what another RE may suggest.

I can't help with the questions to ask, as I have not gone through a UI/IVF yet. But do ask as many questions as possible. Hopefully some of the girls on this board can give you some ideas to ask your RE.

First off I am so sorry that you and your DH are having to go through this nightmare, i can only imagine.

Have you spoken to your doctor regarding the cycle? Have they learned anything from it? Any way to change up the protocol?

As for advice, i am not far along in the game to really be any use to you (or myself:)... buttttt i will say I am a big fan, of second and third opinions when it comes to anything medical (there is just so many things it could be and sometimes different doctors bring different experience, wisdom, knowledge to the table).

I know for me, one of the most frustrating things in this mess, is doing the same thing over and over (IUI). It makes me feel like i am just spinning my wheels. If I were in your situation, I would get another opinion and I would definitely do another IVF cycle, just maybe not with the same office.

Whatever your decision, i wish you lots of luck and please know you are NOT alone in this. We are all here to support you anyway we can.

Im sorry. I know you said you didn't want to change doctors but sometimes a fresh pair of eyes catches something different.

Definitely get a second opinion. I know several women (some on here) that switched doctors, tried something even slightly different, and had an awesome result.

Thank you so, so much for your comments. I go for a follow up with my Dr on Friday. I'm going to ask about any additional testing that could be done (if any). In the meantime, I 'm going to investigate switching Dr's. What a daunting task! THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT!!

I'm sorry. It's sounds like it is a chemical. What did your Dr. think?

Do you still have your period, or did you stop bleeding? It could be a late implanter, and were you just spotting for a few days.

I went back this morning for another beta. Chemical Pregnancies are dragged out and cruel!
