Finally taking charge of "baby fat"

Still carrying an extra 20 lbs of pregnancy weight almost 4 months later, I have taken matters into my own hands and bought Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred after reading so much about it here and on the Diet and Fitness Boards. I did it last night for the first time with 3 of my girlfriends after work and it was AWESOME! She kicks your @$$ non-stop for 20 minutes. I have used muscles I never knew I HAD! WOW!! Chat Icon It felt GREAT once we were done - the burning, the sweat... FEELS GOOD TO BE BACK IN CHARGE OF MY BODY!!!! The plan is to do the video Mon, Wed, and Friday and jog on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Saturday. I am taking Sunday off - since even God rests on Sunday Chat Icon I really hope this helps. I feel fantastic (although sore) today. Any other 30-Day Shredders here??? I know Johnny's mommy is doing it! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

That sounds like a great work out. I need to get it. I just lost 7.6 pounds so far in 4 weeks on Weight Watchers but I need to start toning...

OOOH CONGRATS!!!! I am re-joining WW this Saturday as well!!!!! I figure between the video, jogging, and eating right... I should do OK Chat Icon

It's amazing how much BETTER I feel about myself today. I should have done this SO MUCH SOONER!!! It feels great to finally "do something" about it rather than just complain and feel miserable every time I looked at myself in a mirror Chat Icon

I JUST finished doing it.

Yes, she does kick you @$$. My legs were a bit wobbily walking up the stairs.

I loved how she said something about the little belly flab of skin. I literallly said out loud, "Yeah, Jillian you have not had twins!"Chat Icon

Re: Finally taking charge of "baby fat"

Wow, never heard of it, but I may try it...

How long is the video? How do you keep your DC busy while you work out? Once I start going I hate to stop, but if she fusses I know I can't let her cry for an hour b/c I'm exercising. I take her for walks is my only exercise right now... that and watching points I'm down 5 pounds after 2 weeks of buckling down... 15 more to go and this "deflated balloon" looking tummy so whatever would help I'm willing to try. Is it comfortable for those post C-SECTION? Doctor said not to over-do it.

All you need is a mat (or towel) if you will be on a hard surface (I didn't need either since I was on carpet and was wearing sweat pants - no knee burns) and two hand weights- I bought two 3 lb weights from Target. THAT'S ALL!!! Chat Icon

As soon as your DC goes down for a nap - put the dvd in! If your DC is soothed and comfortable in a swing, do it then! When DH comes home, pass of the baby to him for 20 minutes of "mommy time." It's only 20 minutes long so it's totally manageable I think.

I can't speak to being uncomfortable for those with c-sections, but you do ab work - so I am "guessing" you can modify the crunches and stuff if you have to.

She breaks up a 20 minute work out into three 6-minute circuits as follows:
3 minutes of strength ( you will need 2 light hand weights - I bought 3 lb ones)
2 minutes cardio
1 minute abs

Re: Finally taking charge of "baby fat"

Johnny's mommy WAS doing it until she pulled a huge muscle in her back!! Chat Icon I have been in severe pain for days but getting better...(it wasn't from the workout, it was a wrong step that threw the back out...).

However I did the 30 day shred before and it's an incredible workout. I toned up big time and shed 8 pounds. I loved it and 20 minutes a day is all it took...(5 days/week). I did it while Johnny napped!

I'm so happy you liked it Chat Icon

Stay strong with it!! Don't overdo it because then you'll burn out. 5 days a week was great for me, and i took a break when needed. I really really wish I could be doing it now but I cannot believe what I did to my back. I was literally in tears all day yesterday....

Hopefully I will be back into it next week!!
