Finding out baby's gender, is this possible?

Okay, so I am currently 14w5d and have my monthly appt with my OB tonight. I am dying to find out what I'm having, I don't have a preference of course as long as it's healthy is all I care about it but just want to know.

Here is where my question comes in...

Someone I know is due June 23rd, this person is due 2 weeks after me and has just found out the sex of her baby. I have an appt tonight and I'm wondering if I can find out but I'm thinking it may be too early Chat Icon

How is it possible this person found out at 12 weeks? Isn't that too early?

My SIL found out at her ultrascreen at 12-13wks but they couldn't 100% confirm it - they said it was 70% chance a boy.

Not sure about 14 weeks, but this site talks about looking for the angle of the dangle at NT/Ultrascreen. If this is right then I am totally having a Chat Icon !

Re: Finding out baby's gender, is this possible?

with my first, I knew at 12 weeks at the ultrascreen that it was a boy.. The penis is formed by then so if they see it on the screen it is definately a boy... although I had it confirmed at the 20 week before I started doing anything boy...

This time i went and they couldn't tell me so I have to wait until I go for my 20 wk sono on January 7th.. I will be 20 weeks 3 days and I can't wait to find out this time around....

Most will not tell you before the Level 2. I found out at 12 weeks that it was a boy - but to be honest - I wish I didn't find out that early bc I was really skeptical until the Level 2 because I didn't think they could tell for sure. ETA: Turns out the tech was right!

I was told that they can let us know at our 20 week ultrasound on Tuesday... personally we aren't finding out though.

One of my friends had an U/S at 16 weeks because she was having some genetic testing done. They told her it was a boy. Chat Icon

Then at 21 weeks she had another U/S and found out it was a girl!! Chat Icon And, it was in fact a girl!

So, if they predict the sex at 15 weeks, take it with some caution!

Re: Finding out baby's gender, is this possible?

The genitals begin to form around week 12 so it is possible to find out the sex. However, it is better to wait until they have fully formed to find out. By your 20 week sono they should be able to give you a better guess, but keep in mind that even sometimes that is wrong!!

yes, but not 100%. I found out at 14 weeks and was reconfirmed at 17. My SIL found out at 12 and was reconfirmed at 14,17.

When I was 12 weeks pregnant with #2, the doctor was pretty sure I was going to have a boy. She was right.

You have a regular appointmet, not a sono?
Then you can't find out tonight.

yup she's right. Unless you have a sono shceduled you will not find out until your scheduled level II. People finding out at 11-13 weeks are from the US tests. Others such as myself found out and reassured every other week due to being High Risk and I get sonograms from their office often.
