Finding out if it's a boy or girl
when you get PG are you going to?
I want to but DH and his family are adamantly against it. Their reasoning is that it's the last true surprise in this world and that it would be ruined if you knew.
I, on the otherhand, want to spend my time planning and daydreaming and preparing for my boy/girl. my pink or blue nursery and all the cute clothes, etc. I can't bear the thought of yellow and green clothes or scrambling the last minute to buy stuff.
we argue about this all the time since ttc. but the truth is, he can't stop me from finding out, right?
what do you plan on doing?

Re: Finding out if it's a boy or girl
I will. I think the kind of reasoning that its the only surprise is kind of silly. Basically its deciding when to have the surprise-at 16 or so weeks or at 40 weeks. It's STILL a surprise. If your DH didn't want to know you could always find out privately(with him knowing that you will find out) and not tell him-although I think it would be hard not to slip up

Re: Finding out if it's a boy or girl
I don't want to. We have twin genes running rampant in our family though.. so if we get twins (we probably won't, but if...) we will find out then. Otherwise I want to be surprised.

Same here....If/when I get pregnant, I don't want to know but if there are multiples in there, I want to...Need to plan better then

Re: Finding out if it's a boy or girl
Didn't the first time and probably won't the second. I loved when everyone was guessing what it would be and I loved that my DH came out and told everyone in the waiting room.
I may change my mind when we have #2 (doubt it though)

I def. have to find out!!!!!! DH doesn't care either way. No one can stop you from finding out. They can tell you and no one else has to know of you don't say anything. The problem is hiding all the stuff you'll buy lololol XOXOXO Kitty

Re: Finding out if it's a boy or girl
I am not TTC yet, but we will be in the same situation. I want to find out and DH is adamantly opposed to it. The compromise that I proposed is that we find out for the first, but the second will be surprise. I think he will go for that!

Wow that's the same with us. But recently a cousin of his found out what they were having --so maybe it'll change DH's mind when it our turn.

Although I haven't really put too much thought into it I think I would want to know. I know my DH wouldn't really mind it either way.

We always said we would not find out , but since we've started TTC I am slowly changing my mind. I think I want to know. I haven't told DH that yet though. Maybe I'll mention it tonight !

Re: Finding out if it's a boy or girl
I will find out. DH is waivering.
I look at it this way...I have already had enough unhappy surprises. Not getting PG right away, needing surgery to get pregnant and a chemical pregnancy was all the surprise I could handle. I plan on finding out and frankly, I couldnt give a rat's patootie who likes it or not. If anything, the "surprise" will be the names we choose for our children. NOBODY will know those except for DH and I. The last thing I'll need is aggravation from anyone. There is always someone with something to say - probably the same people who will insist that I breastfeed and use cloth diapers.
