I think about this sometimes....I don't know! Part of me would like a surprise, but part of me feels as though knowing what I'm having will make me that much more excited and thrilled about the pregnancy.

DH wants to, but I don't. Ultimately, we'd like to have two, so we've kind of agreed to find out with one pregnancy. But, now, we disagree with which one we'd find out for! Chat Icon I say find out for the first, because I'd really, really like a boy and a girl. I'd rather not know if the second is the same sex as the first until it's actually here...

Because we'd like to have two, I plan on keeping most everything (with the exception of clothing) gender neutral anyway, so I don't really see the point of finding out anyway.

DH doesnt care, I want to know.

I think the sex thing is the most talked about thing among spectators and it ruins it more for them then the expected couple. unfortunatly it is about the parents, not the spectators

When giving birth i can't see myself to concerned with the sex (if i do or dont know) i would just want to see him/her and enjoy the moment. So for me finding out mid-term is something to look fwd to as a nice milestone...and finding out via sonogram w/DH will be just as special.

although we may wait to give it a name untill birth when we can see him/her - once we see him/her we may not like the name picked out prebirth...

I will HAVE to know - I am a planner, a control freak and I hate surprises. -
Luclily, DH feels the same

I think we will keep the name to ourselves though .........we'll see, I'm not very good at keeping secrets either !!

Re: Finding out if it's a boy or girl

I am PG, and DH wanted to know and I didn't. DH agreed to wait until the baby actually arrives to find out. I found out by accident, and I can't even begin to tell you how upset I am that the surprise is ruined for me.

All the discussions about how it's still a surprise if you find out while still PG vs. waiting till the end really don't ring true now that it has happened. In fact, not finding out by hearing the MD say "it's a boy" or "it's a girl" is really putting a damper on things for me personally.

We'll find out!! I think we will keep the name under wraps and that will be our "suprise" when the baby comes.

Re: Finding out if it's a boy or girl

We have discussed finding out with our first baby, b/c I want my shower to be for a girl or a boy...it makes it a lot easier. We probably wont find out for the 2nd one though!Chat Icon
