Fireplace
Has anyone removed stain from a fireplace and restained it / painted it? Is it difficult to do this??? Anyone have any pictures?
Thanks in advance!!! I HATE the way mine looks! It is oak, and right now it is stained a darkish natural wood color. Ideally I would like to paint it white, but someone told me that you can't paint oak because of the grade of wood?
Anyone have any info??? Thanks so much!

Re: Fireplace
You'd have to sand it, then re-stain it.

Re: Fireplace
You can paint over oak(no need to strip just lightly sand). Use a good primer like Kilz and then an oil based quality paint.....white fireplaces are gorgeous........
