Fireplace question...
Here's the same pic of our living room again... What can we do to the fireplace??? I can't stand the brass that's in the middle? What is this called, and do you think it's expensive to replace it with something other than brass?
Thanks again! Image Attachment(s):

Re: Fireplace question...
Seems to me taht you would be able to just replace the doors...we bought ours at home depot - they are like a brushed nickle.

Another question...
Does anyone have any ideas on what we could do with the tiling??? I'm afraid that it won't match the paint? Thanks!

Re: Fireplace question...
Ive seen that fireplace cover in Home Depot, they have it in different colors too and its easy to install too. I think Black would look the best with your wall, for a more dramatic look I would take down that shelf and stain it along with the wood trim around the tile. I would leave the tile alone. the black fireplace cover and the grey tile will tie in with your furniture too. A dark wood stain on the shelf and trim would give it that warm look, you dont want those accents to match the color of your molding.
or take down the tile and put up rocks, the big ones. those you can make any color too and take the wood trim around the tile down completely too.

Re: Fireplace question...
We're going to redo the fireplace facade- the surround and a new mantel. The sellers had placed fake brick around it and we didn't like the way it looked. Luckily they didn't cauk it or we would have had a really awful time taking it down. (We're currently living with the Durock [cement board] look)
I've been looking at a lot of pictures of fireplaces to get ideas. When I started I went on to amazon.com and looked for books about fireplaces. The one by Better Homes and Gardens got a lot of good write ups, so I purchased it. I think that Home Depot carries it also. Or if you don't feel like purchasing a book, check out your local library. They might have some books in their home improvement section that will help you.
Good luck
