First appointment... what happens?
ok, thank you yet AGAIN for the ob recs. I decided to go with Dr. Goldman. The person who answered the phone was really nice and at the end of our conversation she said, "Best of luck toy you."
So the first appt. would be for the sonogram - I was transferred over there and got a voicemail. No call back, its been a day and a half, so I'll try after work tomorrow! just the word sonogram makes it sound so real LOL!!!
Then after that is the dr appt, so please, tell me, I'm guessing there will be a blood and or urine test? Anything else?
Thank you all

Re: First appointment... what happens?
Most Dr's won't give you a sonogram until you're 8 weeks.
They will probably do a pap smear and a urine test to confirm the pregnancy, take your blood pressure, weight you -all that typical GYN stuff and then give you a Rx for prenatal blood work.
At least that's how my first appt. went.
Good luck!!

Re: First appointment... what happens?
i'll get a sono at 8 weeks (or so since I'll be out of town at 8 weeks) then I have the dr. appt a week after.
do you think I could get a blood/urine instead of a pap/urine? The though makes me want to hurl. Hopefully that will happen.

You might. My OB did a pap because I was almost due for my yearly and they thought why wait. So if you aren't due for a pap soon, than they probably wont do one. They might not do blood in the office... my OB doesn't, so I had to go to a lab (like Quest or Lab Corp) for blood work.

Re: First appointment... what happens?
My first appt was at 6 weeks and I had a sonogram. They also took a urine sample, but no bloodwork. I didn't have any bloodwork done until around 12 weeks. He also would have done a pap smear if I hadn't just had one a few months prior.
