My First Appointment :-)
First of all, thank you all so much for thinking of me today and sending along so much positive energy and well-wishes.. it was so nice to come home and see everyone was checking up on me, I really appreciate it!!
Anyhow - my first appointment went well.. ALL is good with me and little "Pea"
After drawing what seemed like a million vials of blood, confirming the pregnancy with a urine test, my doctor examined me and said I definitely "looked PG" (which I think was her nice way of saying I looked bloated and fat  , even though I did lose 5 pounds!)
Best part, of course, is that I had an internal sono (which truly wasn't bad, but I have had those before for other issues). And yup, I did "see" the heartbeat and everything seems to be progressing along nicely  They have me currently at 9 weeks based on how the baby measured, but since I am in that lovely "35+ age group" they also consider me high risk and want me to see a high-risk specialist for another sono in two weeks, to get a better inidcation if the little bean is progressing on or close to schedule.
The nurse and doctor initially thought I was 10 weeks, based on my last menstrual period, but since my cycles are long and irregular they still aren't exactly sure - that is also why they want me to go back to see the high risk OB because they have better sono equipment and they can "date" the pregnancy better
Right now I am due March 26, 2006!!! 
So that about sums up my appointment, I look forward to seeing the OB specialist in 2 weeks and hopefully getting a better idea on how the baby is progressing , but for now I am ecstatic that I was able to "see" for myself that there is actually a little peanut in there .. it was a surreal moment, one I'll never forget

Congrats!!! As for being in the high risk category, just look at it as a way to see your peanut more often!
