First baby - early, late or on time?
I'm due tomorrow and I feel like I will be preg forever. I have a dr appt tomorrow and if I don't go tonight which I doubt I will we schedule an induction. Dr won't let me go more than a week past due date,
Last wed appt I wasnt dilated at all, but I was 60-70% effaced and baby did drop.
What were your experiences? Anybody induced? I know that 50% of inductions lead to c-section bc of fetal distress from the pitocin or your body just isn't ready. I'm def ready to not be preg anymore but I'm nervous (and excited) for how this will all go down.

Re: First baby - early, late or on time?
I was 10 days late with my first. I went on my own and they gave me pitocin to move things along and delivered vaginally.
My 2nd I had to be induced early due to gall bladder issues and the induction was successful. Long process but quick delivery.
You never know how your body will react. My word of advice is fight for what you want and are comfortable with. WIth my first when I stopped progressing the doctor mentioned c-section. They just had upped the pitocin so I said come back in an hour and we can discuss. An hour later I was ready to push.

Re: First baby - early, late or on time?
DD - My C-section was scheduled for 39 weeks and my water broke a few hours before. Guess we picked the right birthday.
DS - He seemed content to stay forever. Had a repeat C-section at 40w 3d.

Re: First baby - early, late or on time?
I was 9 days late. I was induced on the 8th day at 41w2d. My doctor wouldn't even talk induction until I was one week late. I was induced with Cervadil. I wasn't dilated at all. Although when I went in they said I was 1 cm and having mild contractions (I didn't feel them), so maybe I was finally on my way. My induction went really well. They said the Cervadil would take 12 hours to work, but I was in full blow labor in just a few hours. My water broke on it's own and the Cervadil came out (it's like a tampon). I had DD about 12 hours after I was induced.

Re: First baby - early, late or on time?
I went late and was induced. Went in to my doc's office at 40w3d and he was concerned about BP so set an induction for later that afternoon.
I was given Pitocin which got me to 10cm, but unfortunately heart decells during pushing caused me to have an emergency C section.

Not unless there is something wrong where they need to get the baby out. Otherwise they will schedule for a week after your due date. I know how you feel, but if baby isn't ready to come, just wait as long as possible. Delivery and recovery are so much easier if your body is ready.
DD1 I was induced at 39w 5d due to low fluids. Labor was 48 hours but I was able to deliver vaginally.
DD2 was born at 40w 4d vaginally and labor was much shorter.

Re: First baby - early, late or on time?
I had my DD one day before her due date.
But just so you know, I had an appointment the Thursday before and there was NOTHING going on. Maybe just a fingertip dilated, nothing else. That was Thursday- she was born on Tuesday. So it can happen fast. And I didn't do anything to bring it on- no walking (I could barely move between the shooting pain down my leg and the swelling of my feet/ankles.) And certainly no sex.. I laugh when people suggest it. The last thing on my mind was sex. I woudl have preferred she stay in for another month than even consider having sex the way I felt at that point! And for the record, I think my DH agreed with me on that point!

Re: First baby - early, late or on time?
I had a doc appt at 39w1d and nothing was going on, baby was still high too.... the doc had mentioned that he thought I would be overdue and we would induce at 41 weeks. Well, the next night my water broke and I had DS the next morning, so he was 4 days early.

Re: First baby - early, late or on time?
I was 4 days early, but I was a scheduled c section because she was breech. This was my first. I probably would've late had she not been breech...

Re: First baby - early, late or on time?
in my case, when I went in on my due date I was only 1/2 cm dilated, cervix thinned out. Came back 3 days later to make sure she wasn't under stress, her HB was perfect, but still no dilation or contractions. I ended up being induced a week after due date and even that took a very long time. Didn't give birth to her until the following night (naturally at least - no c-section).
It was very frustrating towards the end because I was soooo ready to just meet her already. I kept hoping I'd be early, or at least on time, but what are ya gonna do? Nothing really works to induce on your own. I got so much advice from people, tried almost everything and ends up it's mostly old wives tales. Just gotta relax and be patient
Good luck!

Re: First baby - early, late or on time?
I was never dilated when I was checked but went into labor 10 days early. Had DS by c/s because he was breech.
