First birthday party
When did you guys start planning it? Jordana is 9 months old, and we really haven't done anything.
I try to live in the moment and enjoy every stage with her. I don't want to think too much in the future. I don't want to rush her growing up.
We are doing something low key and mainly for adults. The most I see doing for the kids is getting someone to do a music class.
I think we will either do it outside in my sister's building or at the restaurant where DH designed all the furniture.
So I guess I am asking, how long do you need to plan a kids first birthday party?

Re: First birthday party
If it's low key with a small guest list, I say a month or two before - just because you want to give your guests time. I started planning Michael's about 3-4 months before, but ONLY because his birthday is smack in the middle of the holidays!
You're right, enjoy every moment with her - it goes too too fast!

Re: First birthday party
I started planning just this week. DD is a little over 8 months old.
I only started planning so early since her party will be on LI and we live a state away.
It will be in a backyard either at my mom's or MIL's. We are going to keep it immediate family and with that it still will be at least 30 people like her christening.
I hate doing it this early even thinking about it, i don't want to rush her growing up!
ETA: Her party will be early may, the invites are not going out til end of march/beginning of april

Re: First birthday party
I started thinking about it also. We are having about 35-40 people at my moms house. I can't fit that many people inside. I have to find a caterer because I really dont feel like cooking but I am sure I will cook b/c it isn't such a big deal or maybe bbq. Hopefully it will be nice this April like it was when we brought DS home. I just dont know what theme I want to do.

Re: First birthday party
Since ours was really small and at home I started about 6 weeks before. Made the invites myself, got 1st birthday paper goods at party city, ordered pizza and appitizers the day before and made 2 cakes myself. I'll do the same for Andy's.
