My DS has his 1st visit in 3 weeks. He will be 3 in Nov. I actually need forms completed from the dentist for his preschool....if I didnt I dont know when I would have taken him.

I took my son when he was one years old because at that time that was the recommendation given by all of the those parenting magazines and dentists. (My son is now 12 yrs old) I found the visit to be absolutely useless. The dentist inspected the teeth he had at the time (which weren't many) and recommended that I brush his teeth twice a day, not to let him sleep with a bottle in his mouth and gave us a nice goody bag.
With my daughter I waited until she was two years old, which made more sense to me because she had more teeth for the dentist to actually inspect.
I would say between the ages of 2-3 is a good time for their first dental visit.

I have to go soon  my son flips out seeing the ped. Can anyone tell me how they will handle a screaming, turning red/blue almost vomitting or will vomit child?

2 years and 8 months. He only got a cleaning and no fluoride yet. He loved sitting in that high chair and loves his toothbrush from the dentist...which is a regular adult-size toothbrush

okay, but what if your child HAS a lot of teeth?? do you go earlier?? i plan to ask the ped this at her 15 month visit...but now i'm curious!
Em has 11 teeth full OUT...and 1 more coming in now....
