First Grad Class this Semester where to buy books?
So I am all signed up for my first grad class. I went to go look at the book. It's 156 dollars for the book what the hell gives. Where do most people buy books these days. I used to just buy them on campus but at 156 I am open to suggestions. I have the ISBN number but have never ordered books online. Please let me know as we have numerous highly educated people on these boards. BTW it has been 3 and a half years since I finished by Bachelors. So I am a bit weary about getting back into the books.

Thanks it's 115 there. Is there a way to check and make sure it's the most current version?

On amazon it tells you the author and version when you do a search. They also tell you the condition, location it ships from and price.

Thank you very much. I just checked bigwords.com and it's also much cheaper there. I will be going with one of the two.

Re: First Grad Class this Semester where to buy books?
I got bought and sold my text books using half.com when I was in grad school.
If you do have to buy a book at the bookstore and pay full price, look into selling it on half.com after the semester ends. You'll probably get more for it online than you would if you sold it back to the bookstore.
Congrats on going back to school!

I second the reccommendation for half.com. Also, remember when you're looking on Amazon that they have used books there too on "Amazon Marketplace" - sometimes you'll have a good find on there.

Re: First Grad Class this Semester where to buy books?
everyone gave all the great websites.
one semester my prof told us to feel free to buy the previous version if it was much cheaper since there were so few changes from one version to another. (they usually flip around the chapters to confuse you when they change versions ) but I thought that was SO cool of this professor It was a high demand book and we got the previoous version for SO much less.
another time, the prof told us not to bother buying it and instead preferred we bought other books requested by him. (several small books, as opposed to a textbook)
so many teachers have their own comments on what to do about readings, so I sometimes waited til the first class, esp if it was a $150 book.
some small books we only did a few readings in, and the entire class got library copies.
