Re: First injectable cycle....
I had the same protocol for my third IUI. The follistim pen is painless, it is so thin. If you have any issues with bruising, some do, i didn't, icing the area before and after, and changing the injection spot helps.
I did have some bloating but other than that it was fairly easy. I did create more follies with follisim.
Good Luck to yoU!

Re: First injectable cycle....
If I dont get preggo this month... Im going to move onto injectables for next month. Im worried about hyperstimulation though.
Is Dr. B starting you off on a low dose?
How much Femara are you taking now?
Im taking 5mg of Femara so Im wondering what dose he would put me on too next month ... if I dont get preggo first

Re: First injectable cycle....
i am taking 5 mg of letrozole and 150 units of Follistim....
I was worried about the same thing...but Dr. B said chances were slim and since we will be going away next weekend..this will help my cycle along so I can assure we do IUIs before we leave
to you guys!!!

dr. b started me on that same protocol in december. i hyperstimmed and had my cycle cancelled. i was worried that would happen but he said it was a good sign cause its a fairly low dose. he said it would have been a perfect IVF cycle .
i went on to the next cycle with femara and 37.5ius of gonal-f. that protocol was too low, had almost no growth, and i eventually had to repeat it that cycle with 75ius and switched back to follistim. i stimmed for 21 days and eventually produced 2 eggs that cycle and ended up with a chemical PG.
this cycle i did femara and 75ius of follistim. i had 2 good follies by cd15. i got a BFP this cycle but my beta hasn't risen appropriately and it looks like either another chemical or a m/c.
anyway none of that answers your questions . with femara i got night sweats and mood swings. with follistim i had major bloating and one out of three cycles i had bad bruising. the shot itself doesnt hurt, i found if you ice the spot for about 5 minutes beforehand you barely even feel it.
good luck

Re: First injectable cycle....
I was on the same protocol as you on my last cycle. I felt fine overall, even though I wasn't the one doing the injections....DH did that for me He's gotta do something besides just donating in a cup I didn't getting pregnant last cycle... and on top of that I got a cyst in my right ovary and my cycle had to be cancelled for this month Also, I gained 4 pounds which is really upsetting because I've been trying to loose some weight to fit back into my clothes - I've gained 20 pounds since I married DH!!!! I hope this cycle is successful for you though! I hope this will do the trick for you

Do you normally ovulate on your own? If you do, is it earlier than day 11? That's the only time that this would be a concern, otherwise you should be fine

Re: First injectable cycle....
I used 5mg of femara and 150ius of gonal-f (similar to follistim)
I never had any out of the ordinary side effects........ just 3-4 good follies and finally a BFP!
Good luck!!!!!!

Thank you To be honest I am feeling too good!! I have my first sono appt tomorrow and I am actually really nervous because I really don't feel pregnant! I am sure everything will be fine and I'm just 6 weeks so it's a bit early for symptoms.. but still I can't help but let my mind escape!! Even after a BFP, the worry and uncertainty doesn't end.........
Anyway good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It ultimately took 3 IUI cycles for me, but it did happen!!
