First month off BCP & ovulation
This is my first month off BCP. I've been using OPK to get an idea of my cycle (testing everyday from CD 7). Today is CD 17 and I have had BFN everytime.
Anyone NOT ovulate the first month off BCP? Do you think I'll get AF next month?
FYI, before BCP I had regular cycles. Every 28-29 days.

Re: First month off BCP & ovulation
Hi! This is my first month off BCP too. I used the OPKs and felt like I kept getting negatives as well. Before the pill, I usually O'ed on CD13. But I also temp and I can tell that although I never got my positive OPK I did ovulate on CD18. So you never know! Were you testing once or twice a day? Also, you might want to temp a month just to confirm ovulation. It won't help you predict when to BD but it will give you peace of mind that you are ovulating.

Thanks for the feedback
I test everyday, first thing in the morning, but only once. Should I be testing multiple times a day?

Re: First month off BCP & ovulation
Some people have a short LH surge in which case you could miss it if you only test once every 24 hours. If you tried 2x a day for one cycle you could get a better idea of when you ovulate and you could time your BD.

Not to hijack this thread, but have you mentioned this to your doctor? Most people when going off bcp do revert back to the cycle they had beforehand.

I haven't... Honestly, I didn't even think about reverting back to my cycle when I was a teenager. If that's the case, I'm never getting pregnant. And of course by never I mean it's going to be very difficult.

Crashing... I thought that too. I never got my period after going off the pill and after 89 days my GYN did an u/s and saw my lining was thick so he gave me a round of provera to cause a withdrawal bleed and clear my lining. 85 days later I got my second period off the pill on my own. I started working out and exercising and lost around 35 lbs over the next 2 years. We started TTC a little after that and at that point my cycles were still irregular but kinda patterned at 35 then 59 days every other cycle. I got pregnant in our 4th month TTC. (No temping, no OPKs, just complete luck.) Just because you're irregular doesn't mean it'll be impossible. Despite my doctors always telling me it would be really hard. Don't lose faith, but definitely talk to a doctor. Every woman is different and sometimes it's hard to know what's going on in your body, if not impossible. But please don't lose faith so soon. I spent years so so scared I'd never be able to have children because of what the doctors told me when I was 18. I'm pregnant with #2 now in less than 2 years (totally shocked because I only got my period once, 10 months post partum).
Knowing whether you ovulate on your own or not is a really important thing, obviously. The fact that you're already thinking about that is great. Find a doctor or RE you feel comfortable with and trust and take it from there. But by no means resign yourself to the fact that it'll be hard if not impossible so soon.
Wishing you lots of baby dust!

Start by mentioning your long cycles to your doctor. Then pick up the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It will really help you! Using the book, chart your temperature and fertility signs for a month. You will be able to tell right away if you ovulate or not. Maybe you just have long cycles, but maybe there's something else going on. I feel like it will also give you more info to give to your doctor. Good luck!!!

I would try 2x a day. This was my first cycle using OPK's...and the day I got my was 11pm at night when I tested by chance. I had gotten a negative that morning...and a negative the next morning. So if I wasn't testing 2x a day I would have completely missed it. I guess I have a really short surge.
