First night in the crib
and i am so nervous. We also stopped fully swaddling DS last night, so its really two big transitions tonight. I only swaddle him now from his waist down, so his arms are free. I felt it was time to move him into his own room as he has been waking up/restless from hearing DH and myself turn or move during the night. He went down great tonight, I gave him the bottle, and he feel sleep on me afterwards. So i swaddled his lower body and put him in his crib. I am hoping he will do well with it. Last night i had him still in the co-sleeper in our room and he slept unswaddled for like 4.5 hours and at 3:00AM was moving and kicking. His eyes were shut though the whole time and he didn't cry or need to be picked up. However, DH and I were up pretty much up the whole time from the noises of him moving and me trying to give him his pacifier (he didn't want it but i kept trying anyway thinking it would calm him down and help him get into a deeper sleep) till he fully got up at 7:30. He was sleeping through the night swaddled, from like 8:30-9:00PM till 7ish in the AM. Even if he will sleep till 6 now i would be thrilled.

Re: First night in the crib
Good luck!! DD is still in my room and swaddled ... I probably need to face this reality soon, too! BTW - what made you decide to stop the swaddle??

Re: First night in the crib
He's almost 4 months old and i was afraid that it would be a harder habit to break the older he got. Plus i am not back at work yet and i wanted to do it before i start, this way if the nights were bad it would be easier to deal with since i have nothing imp't to do during the day ( rather then have to face work the next day if i waited another month or so)

Re: First night in the crib
I have to say- the first night without the swaddle was no where near as bad as I thought it was going to be. Was DS breaking free of it? If so- it's likely he's outgrown the need for it anyway.
Now~DD has been "swaddle-free" for about 3 weeks- and she sleeps exactly how she did with the swaddle.
I can't help with the crib advice as DD has been in hers since 7 weeks. I can say that the first few nights are harder on us than DC- I was in there every hour the first night or two checking on her....
Good luck!!!!

Re: First night in the crib-updated
Thanks guys, DS did awesome, i am so happy and a little surprised. He pretty much slept the whole night till 7AM this morning! He was moving through the night a little but never woke up, just was a little restless. I went in at 6AM to give him his pacifier b/c he was whining a little, but other then that, he was down for the night. I hope its like this every night and yes he pretty much kicked out of the swaddle by the morning, so i will prob start doing away with it over the next couple of weeks completely.

Re: First night in the crib
Glad it went well!! DD is still swaddled, although we're trying to get her out of it too. She breaks out of it every night, so I tried putting her in one of the Halo sleep sacks for the warmth at least...the first night she slept fine like this, so we were sooo excited! But she has refused to sleep in the sack since, she needs to be swaddled. She makes me a nervous wreck b/c the blanket ends up completely off of her. We'll keep trying.
Glad it went well for you!!!
