First prenatal visit

I thought that most pratitioners do not usually see someone who is less than 10 weeks PG.

When I called to make my intial appointment, I told the receptionist that the pregnancy was confirmed by blood and urine test. I was calling to make my 10w appointment (or in my case 6-7 week appt), the receptionist said I don't have to wait that long.

She scheduled me for next week. Which is still really early..

I of course don't mind seeing the Dr. sooner, I am just wondering why some doctors do it differentlly.

Re: First prenatal visit

I went to my OBGYN to get the blood test around 5 1/2 weeks. They scheduled my for my first sono 7w6d (that was just the availability I could have gone at 7 weeks).

I see each office is different. There are some girls here that got sonos at 6 weeks. My Doctor said to wait so we can see a heartbeat.

Right, that makes sense. I already had blood work done last week at my family practitioners office. The NP said she thinks I am 3 weeks pg. So next week I would still be too early, under 6 weeks - to hear a heartbeat or to have a sono.

Hmmm, maybe I chose the wrong office?

Re: First prenatal visit

Maybe they are going to redo the bloodwork since it is so early. You can always call and ask what they procedure is exactly. A proactive Doctor is never a bad thing. Chat Icon

Re: First prenatal visit

Not sure if you saw this thread below. A LOT of women have seen the Doctor and had a sonogram.

Re: First prenatal visit

Every doctor is different. Some see you the moment you get a BFP, so make you wait until 12 weeks. All depends on the practice.

Re: First prenatal visit

IDK why some do things differently. BUT I would LOVE it if i found a dr by chance who wanted to see me sooner. I think that's an awesome sign.

At 6 weeks you will see a heartbeat. So you can see something. You see a peanut with a heartbeat!!

I guess that it's a good sign yea.

I just found my wheel from when I used to be an M.A. at a ob/gyn office over 8 years ago.. now the procedure is all coming back to me..

According to my wheel, I am 4w5d and my due date is 11.25 which is crazy bc that's my wedding anniv. Due dates can change..I know.. but thought it was pretty cool when that date came up.

Re: First prenatal visit

I had my first sono at 7w. We were able to see the little baby and the heartbeat.
