First time I'm a little nervous....
During our little OB visit yesterday, our doctor gave me the genetic lab work slip and I got a little pit in my stomach when I saw the CF gene test on there...
My cousin had CF (she has since passed) and I have the gene. It never occured to me that DH could possibly have it too... She gave us a script for labs for him too because I already know I have the gene..
Anyone do this screening yet? I'm more nervous about DH doing this one than I am about our ultrascreen on Fri..

I did the screening but I wasn't that concerned since no in my family has CF. I did get a little concerned with the tay-sachs screening because I never realized that I could carry the gene. My husband is jewish but I am catholic so I thought we were in the clear. It never dawned on me that I could be a carrier as well but since my father was jewish and of eastern european decent I was told I could indeed carry the gene. It turns out we were fine though.
The chance that your husband might carry the CF gene as well is very small but I can completely understand you concern. Try not to worry about it and just tell yourself that you will deal with the results if they are bad when you actually know they are bad. No sense getting worried about it now when there is nothing you can do. Good luck - I am sure everything will be fine.

Because I am of European descent, I am a carrier. When the test results came back that indeed I was a carrier, we elected not to follow through with Brian's testing simply because we felt that whatever God gave us is what he would bless us with. A child is love in our opinion, and if by some chance she does have CF, then that's the choice that He has made for us.

I found out through pregnancy that I am a carrier, and DH had to be tested, but luckliy he is not a carrier. It was a bit nervewracking, but they made it sound like the odds of us both being carriers were pretty uncommon.

I completely agree with this- it wouldn't matter one way or another. It's just that this was the first time that I even considered the posibility. I can only pray for a neg result on DH's end.

We had genetic testing done before we TTC. I'm Jewish, and DH is not, but one of his grandmothers was. It turned out I wasn't a carrier for anything. My sister is a CF carrier, though, so I know how nerve-wracking it is waiting for those results! (Thankfully, my BIL wasn't a carrier).

I had this done in the beginning. It turned out I am a carrier but luckily my boyfriend isn't. My sister is also a carrier.
