First timer needs some help
Hi everyone,
I went off BC recently. CD1 for me was August 20th. According to Fertility Friend, I was supposed to ovulate Sept. 2nd. Now, I know I may not ovulate on time at first. My question is, about a week later, 9/12-9/13, I noticed that my breast and nipples were very sore. That has never happened to me before. I also gained about 2lbs. for no reason, then lost it about a day or two later. Around that same time I had a slight cramping on the lower left side of my stomach. Does it sound like I ovulated more around 9/13? We are not fully TTC until my first period, but according to FF, Im due today. Im just paranoid about not getting my period. I was very regular before BC. I guess Im just paranoid.
Oh yea, Ive been trying to monitor CM but I just cant get the hang of it. It doesnt seem so clear cut for me...lol.
Thanks for the help. Im sure Ill have so many more questions.
Katie

Re: First timer needs some help
Is this your first cycle off BCP? If so, I think it's really impossible to predict anything (from O to your period due date) based on your past months on BCP. It's possible that you are PG if you BD this month, but most people are also irregular (either slightly or very) immediately after going off BCP. I felt exhausted and achy EVERYWHERE my first month off, and it was just my body adjusting to not having those hormones.
What I've learned from several months TTC is that symptoms are always there if you look for them. If I eat a salty dinner I will be 2 lbs heavier the following day, only to lose it a few days following. Try not to drive yourself crazy, esp when starting out.

Re: First timer needs some help
It is my first month off BC. Im just trying to learn about my body and how it works. I didnt even know half this stuff existed until I started reading these boards...lol. I am not pregnant, I took a test to make sure. Im just nervous about not getting my period. I was due today. Everywhere on the internet it says 4-6 weeks normally, sometimes 2 months or more. I guess I just need to relax.

Since it's your first month coming off bcp, you really can't be sure that you were due for AF today.
AF's arrival is directly related to when you ovulate. You might ovulate very late this month since your body is getting used to being off bcp.
I would test 1x a week until it has been 6 weeks since your last period, then I'd give a call to the doctor and see what they say.

oh hon - don't get that impression. Relaxing has nothing to do with whether or not you'll get your period...
With your body being SOOOOO used to being on the pill - it has now gone through a 'shock' kinda - of no more hormones!!!!!!
It may take a few months to get your period - it may be one more week. Everyone is different!!! If you have any questions - feel free to ask! I was on birth control for 12 years before coming off of it!!!

Re: First timer needs some help
The first month after I stopped taking the pill, I ovulated around CD 19 or 20. The only reason I knew I was ovulating was b/c I had a pulled muscle type pain on my left side for a few days. I also tried to monitor CM, but found that wasn't helpful. Your body is likely to go through a lot of changes after stopping BCP. The best way of figuring out when you ovulate is really to use OPKs and/or charting. Good luck!

Re: First timer needs some help
I stopped BC in July and noticed my nipples were unbelievably sore that first month, like my pj's rubbing against them made me scream! Sorry...TMI. After that first month all those new sensations went away! I got my first period after BC on time, August 1st, and then started to notice the feelings of ovulation around 8/11-8/15. I don't know 100% if that's what was happening, but I had all the physical symptoms they tell you will happen around that time. I'm still new to all this but thought I would share! The next month these symptoms started about 11 days after my CD1 as well.

Re: First timer needs some help
now that you are off BCP, you will begin to notice all kinds of new things about your body. hang in there, AF will probably come soon. it took me about 6 months to really become regular.

Re: First timer needs some help
Ya i think it's a new world off BCP. I stopped in July and got AF 33 days after the start of last AF very different then 28....then this month I had the sore nipples and tiredness really bad. Tomorrow will be 33 days again...it's very frustrating when you are so used to a BCP schedule. I guess we just have to learn our bodies all over again!

Re: First timer needs some help
I came off BCP in April my first cycle was 34 days long, my 2nd was 32 and my third was 30. I was waiting to see what my 4th month would be but I ended up getting pregnant. The pain you are experiencing in your stomach is probably ovulation, it is very similiar to cramps a few days prior to your period. Good luck!

Re: First timer needs some help
Thanks for everyones help. Im officially on CD30 but Im not going to worry because it seems like most people have their first cycle of BC in the 30-40 day range. Im going to just try to not think about it...if thats possible.
