Flat spot on head
Okay, I mentioned this a few weeks ago that DS had a flat spot on the back of his head and he has a big bald spot. He is 5 months. We talked to the ped about it 2 weeks ago and he said that it's normal and it's nothing to worry about since now that he's old enough he will start to roll off the back of his head and that his head shape will change.
Is this right? The ped that said this is the one dr in the office that I am unsure of because he gave us faulty advice before. Is there anything I can do to make it better? Any advice would be great... thanks :/

Re: Flat spot on head
My DD also has a flat spot on the right side of her head. My ped. was threatening a helpmet on us from ages 2months to 5 months. During those 3 months I did everything in my power to change it, I did tumm time, held her, bumbo, jumper.
Its better but DEFINITELY NOT 100% My ped. looked @ it last week and decided she didnt need the helpmet, I dont agree with her, I thinks he needs it. I am calling the company next week to schedule Julianna for a consult for the helmet.

Re: Flat spot on head
The best things you can do is to keep your LO off the the spot for prolonged periods of time. Tummy time/bumbo time is best.
It's tough now bc LOs spend so much time on the back of their heads, between "back to sleep", swings, bouncers, car seats, etc. Try to keep him a little to one side or the other. Their heads grow soo quickly at this age that it CAN correct itself if you keep them off it.
I went through this with DD, and she ended up needing a DOC Band (helmet). It helped A LOT.
Good luck!!!
ps. Trust your mommy instinct. I knew DD's head was flat from like 10 weeks+, always mentioned it to the Ped at well-baby visits. They brushed me off until she was 7 months and they finally agreed it was abnormal and needed to be checked. I was pi$$ed that they didnt take me seriously from the beginning and we wasted time. The earlier theyre treated, the shorter the treatment is.
