Re: flexible spending account
DH has something similar, a healthcare reimbursement plan. We can use it on any medications, prescription or not, copays, and other things. We cannot, however, use it on daycare.....we called his union to find out.

Re: flexible spending account
There are two kinds of FSA - one for general medical (co-pays, prescriptions, over the counter meds and a bunch of assorted stuff) and one for dependant care. For the dependant care FSA your should ask your DH's human resource person (or whoever manages the dependant care FSA) b/c what info my FSA manager requires might be different than yours.

Re: flexible spending account
The Flex Plan @ my job is similar to the OP. Can be used for yourself or children, medicines (from cough syrup to RX), eye glasses, contacts, co-pays, Child Care. The funds come out of your check weekly or bi-weekly before taxes (you decide on the amt). You pay first and submit paperwork to get reimbursed- you have to send in receipts. Then you get a check in the mail. You save the tax.
