Flu shot for the first time
DS is 16 months old and rec'd the flu shot for the first time at the begining of the month...
He is not scheduled to go back from the 2nd half until December...
Is it normal for them to be administered so far apart?

My Ped is doing them one month apart.
He is giving a half dose in Nov & the second half in Dec.

Only the 1st time your child receives it...
It was awhile ago...but I could swear my older son; got his 2nd shot much sooner...

He got the 1st on 10/8 and we dont go back for the 2nd until his 18 month apppointment in December
(2 days shy of 2 months apart)

I believe they have to wait at least 30 days in between the first and the second shot. I don't think it's abnormal for them to space it out like that.

No they are supposed to get them about a month apart (I believe there has to be 30 days between shots though) - they don't get full immunity until they get both shots (I think 1 shot gives you 80% my ped said last year - but I could be wrong). I would try to go 5 weeks after the 1st shot.

DC got theirs today...and the second half is scheduled for 12/6. Ped said has to be at least 30 days and they prefer less than 8 weeks. So pretty much between 1-2 months later.

Same here Lara just got her first shot last week she is not due back until end of December, that is when my ped is giving her the second shot as well..I asked him and he told me it was okay to be that far apart.
