flying southwest with infant

I am flying to NY in October. Anthony will be 3 months. He can sit on my lap on the plane right, and what is the process, do i tell the airline ahead of time? I don't want to have to pack anything as far as stroller/ carseat etc. My family in NY has all of it for when I get there.

TIA

In that case, all you need to bring is the birth certificate.

You can also check the stroller or car seat at the gate if you want to bring something for DC to stay on while you are waiting in the airport
