Flying w/ car seats....
okay girls I need help deciding. For those who flew w/ their infant car seats how does that work? I assume you just bring the seat not the base....do you the use it the same as in the car and install it rear facing? Or on the plane would it be forward facing?
Last time we flew with DD#1 she was 15 months and using the convertible seat so I just used the one in DH's car. But this time DD is still in her infant seat (snugride 32). I had planned to take the comfortsport b.c I figured that she would be out of the snugride by now. I can still take the comfortsport but it would mean DD#1 would ride in it to the airport, then I would have to uninstall the seat, fix the straps to fit DD#2. It might be worth it b/c I think she might be more comfortable - but the snugride is SO much easier to carry in the airport.
Advice?

yes - you use it just like in the car, but you have to take them out of it for security

Thanks that is what I thought- I don't have the attachment to use the seat with the stroller so I would just carry the seat without her in it - last time they made my DD walk thru without me at 15 months...LOL - I know I have to take her out of the seat - but I just thought if I could forward face the seat it might be easier to carry than the convertible one. I wasn't sure b/c I have read a few places you install seats on airplane forward facing but wasn't sure if that was right. I guess I will just bring the convertible seat then so she can be forward facing and more comfortable.

You could put it forward facing. the handle will make it a bit eaasier.
We actually latch the two latch hooks and wear the car seat like a messenger bag KWIM? DH wants the seat that can be a stroller too - just for airport trips.

Re: Flying w/ car seats....
Until DS were front facing in the car, I installed the seats rear facing in the plane too (both the infant seat as well as the convertible). The both actually preferred it since they could see me the whole time. Whenever we traveled with the infant carrier, we never used a base, just attached the car seat with a seat belt.

Re: Flying w/ car seats....
I don't know which one to bring. I think she would be more comfortable forward facing - we are going on jet blue so she would have a TV (although she never watches it - I hope it might occupy her for a bit) - if she is rear facing I would think she wouldn't be able to look out the window easily right? I just think she would be more comfortable in the convertible but it is easier on us with the infant seat...I don't know why I waited until the last minute to make this decision.
