food and my 14 month old still taking baby food?!?!

so my 14.5 month old can and will feed herself a meal with a fork and spoon and barely make a mess shes very good at it.. but she still prefers jared/homemade baby food over table food for dinner. a regular meal consist of me offering 2-3 different types of table food each with refusal to eat... so i resort to baby food because i know she needs to eat... i wouldnt offer it but when i do she will suck down a stage 3 plus some applesauce or 2 stage 2 jars so i know shes hungry. its become a comdy joke because she will feed herself with a spoon out of the jar. She WILL NOT eat a veggie unless its pureed and then will eat any andall veggies. fruit she will eat fresh and cut up.

would you FORCE the table food by this age or just let it go when it comes down to dinner...

Re: food and my 14 month old still taking baby food?!?!

My DD was the same way....she would only eat veggies and fruit out of a jar till she was almost 18 months. I always offered the fruit and veggies we were eating but I always caved on the jarred because I wanted her to get the nutrients. Eventually she started eating more and more "regular" food and gave up the jars. Don't drive yourself crazy.

Re: food and my 14 month old still taking baby food?!?!

I was just talking to a friend of mine about this b/c my DS is 11mo and not eating table food. gags, vomits..he'd much rather eat his jar food.

My friend's daughter is 2 and still gets stage 2 fruits and veggies b/c she hates most table food. She said her ped is ok with it b/c she's still getting fruits and veggies. She does eat raw veggies from what my friend said.

I spoke with my ped about this today as well and she said when he's ready he'll be ready. Keep trying to introduce things and usually out of nowhere they'll want it.

Re: food and my 14 month old still taking baby food?!?!

DD is 13.5 months and the same way. Eats table food fine, but is just sometimes really picky (other times not at all) and doesn't love veggies esp green ones. I don't want her to go to bed on an empty stomach so I'm always caving and adding a green veggie baby food to her table food meal, bc I never feel like she eats enough dinner. I'm ok with it bc I know she can eat table food meals, but when she goes on dinner strike, she'll always finish a full baby food.

Sounds like Mason. He's 15 months and still on jarred food. We try some table food and he's getting better, but has a texture issue and certain table foods makes him gag.

DS is the same way. It is such a struggle. All the table food that I give him usually goes to the floor. So I end up giving him his jars, and he will eat that.

OMG, DD is the same way!!! I totally thought it was only me. She is 13 months and is very picky! Has interest in the table food, but won't eat it. I still give her baby food all the time, but have been trying more and more table food.
